Is it biblical to plead the blood of Jesus in prayer? We believe so. In Exodus 12:13, where it says, “When I see the blood, I will pass over you” constitutes one of the most important statements in the Bible. The only thing that stood between the children of Israel and the destroyer was the blood. It is no less the same now. It is the blood alone which protects the individual. When we speak of the blood we are, at the same time, speaking of the cross. In fact, the cross is a synonym for the death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and exaltation of the Lord Jesus Christ. In other words, it incorporates all that He did for lost humanity in regard to the price that He paid; however, of these things we have just named, it is the cross where the price was actually paid. All the other things—the resurrection, the ascension, and exaltation—are predicated solely on the fact of the cross. It was on the cross where Jesus shed His blood, pouring out His life as a sacrifice, which atoned for all sin—past, present, and future—at least for those who will believe. Praise God!
