A Call to Revival Focused Prayer
Praying for loved, the sick, the needy, the county and such is always something believers should do. Yet in a time such as this, with all that is going on in our world, and as our church comes to our Fall Revival next, our prayers need to shift, corporately, beyond the normal and center on three crucial focuses near to God’s heart:
1. Pray for the Church to Turn Back to God
• The Need: Though blessed with freedom, resources, and generosity, the American Church in many aeras, suffers becoming distracted from the many: Preaching the Gospel with an effort to Make Disciples. As Revelations 2:4, “But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.” The church is love Jesus and Love what Jesus loved above all else. And He loved lost sinners and His sharing His life with His followers.
• Prayer Focus:
o Ask God to break our self-reliance and reveal any idols or unworthy distractions in our hearts.
o Pray for a renewed determination to seek Jesus with all our heart and soul (Deuteronomy 4:29).
o Allow God permission to examine us, convict us of sin, and draw us back home to Him.
o Pray that Christ would give us a renewed passion for declaring the fullness of the Gospel, For lost people, and to help saved people mature in their faith and faithfulness!
2. Pray for Lasting Transformation
• The Need: We need a transformation of our hearts, efforts, vision and mission mentality that endures and progresses ever higher. We need a revival that sparks lasting transformation, not simply momentary adjustments.
• Prayer Focus:
o Pray that new spiritual habits, deeper family connections, and quiet reflection cultivated during this revival season will not soon fade.
o Ask God to make and transformations He guides us to personally or corporately, to become permanent foundations for our lives rather than temporary phases.
o Pray that we choose His Will, His Way, According to His Word, above and before any personal or traditional preferences moving forward and that we remain transformed for good (Deuteronomy 7:9).
3. Pray for God to Show Himself Mighty
• The Need: While we appreciate human effort and expertise, ultimate salvation, transformation and fruitfulness comes from a Spiritual movement of our God—El-Shaddai, the Mighty God.
• Prayer Focus:
o Ask God to move beyond the shadows and display His power openly in our lives and world (Zephaniah 3:17, Isaiah 42:13).
o Pray that He demonstrates His power to handle our greatest problems, rescue the lost, and recapture the attention of His people’s hearts, on Him and the Mission, He has Called us too (Matthew 28:16-20, Acts 1:8, 1 Timothy 2:4, 1 Thessalonians 4:3)
o Pray that the name of Jesus will be exalted and praised across the earth, starting in our lives and our church and expanding outward!
And all of God’s people said, Amen. Lord, let it be!
