What do the terms “Enigma” and “Purple” mean to history buffs? Here’s a hint: they’re code words. And they shaved two years off the end of World War II.

Temple Emanuel of Marlborough, 150 Berlin Road, invites you to join us on Sunday, February, 9, at 2:00 pm, for an afternoon presentation about the role of coded messages in World War II. Recently declassified details show how a small group of heroic scientists fought the war from inside their labs. Marlborough resident Chuck Pross will answer questions like: How does codebreaking work? Who were the codebreakers who deciphered the German and Japanese codes? How did that save millions of lives? How - and why - are codes still used in today’s world?

All are welcome! Admission is free, just drop in. Refreshments will be served. For more information, please email us at [email protected], or call at 508-485-7565. Snow date is Sunday, February 16.

You are invited to a presentation about Kristallnacht and The Legacy of The Leica Freedom Train, Saturday, November 9, at 7:00 pm at Temple Emanuel of Marlborough, 150 Berlin, Road.

Please join us for a special evening with Worcester resident, Bruce M. Wahle, as he shares the story of how his own family was saved by a camera and the visions of righteous Gentiles, Ernst Leitz II and his daughter, Elsie Kuhn-Leitz.

As the gates of N**i Germany were slamming shut, the Leitz family, owners of the Leica Camera Company, risked their lives to save others. By creating what has become known as the "The Leica Freedom Train", an estimated 300+ Jews were able to escape the Holocaust even after Kristallnacht - The Night of Broken Glass.

A Havdalah service will precede this presentation. For more information, please email info@templeemanuelma, or call 508-485-7565.
