Beyond the Sunday Song & Dance
How shall we sing the LORD’S song in a strange land?
— Psalm 137:4
There is something special about music, Worship & Praise.
It has the ability to lift up a song when you are down. When you find your mind racing or searching, sometimes it just takes a song to help you find peace, comfort or a few moments to regroup. But there are times when it may not be the most convenient to break out in a song.
The other day I was at price Chopper singing “Goodness of God” in the middle of a store, there is a good chance I would get some looks and I did, even one complement lol. It may be easy to break out in a song when you are at home, but it can be a challenge when you are in a strange place. Not always in Church
Such was the case in this Psalm. The question is mentioned, “How can we sing a song of praise when we are in a strange place?”
They were in a place of discomfort, discouragement, and full of strangers. That certainly sounds like life in a lot of instances.
A world that is filled with sin, wickedness, discouragement, and more. It’s filled with places that make it difficult to break out and enjoy a song.
But we can find a song of praise in the middle of a strange place.
Not because the circumstances around us change but because of who is in control of those circumstances!
Don’t forget that our God is the one in control. He has never failed. He has never left us. Though things may be difficult, keep on singing your song of praise!
Declare I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
