Occupy till I come. - Luke 19:13

The Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.—Unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.—Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?—Leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.—Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it.—Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

They said, … it is manna: for they wist not what it was. - Exod 16:15

Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh.—The bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. My flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.

The children of Israel … gathered, some more, some less. He that gathered much had nothing over, and he that gathered little had no lack. They gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating.

Take no thought, saying, What shall we eat: or, What shall we drink? Your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

“When he cries out to me, I will hear, for I am gracious.” And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has in us. God is love, and the one who resides in love resides in God, and God resides in him. By this love is perfected ...

To obey is better than sacrifice - 1 Sam 15:22

Our healing is thus represented as a special recompense for obedience. If, therefore, we would please the Lord and have the reward of those who please Him, there is no service so acceptable to Him as our praise.

Let us ever meet Him with a glad and thankful heart and He will reflect it back in the health of our countenance and the buoyant life and springing health, which is but the echo of a joyful heart.

Further, thankfulness is the best preparation for faith. Trust grows spontaneously in the praiseful heart. Thankfulness takes the sunny side of the street and looks at the bright side of God, and it is only thus that we can ever trust Him. Unbelief looks at our troubles and, of course, they seem like mountains, and faith is discouraged by the prospect. A thankful disposition will always find some cause for cheer, and gloomy one will find a cloud in the brightest sky and a fly in the sweetest ointment. Let us cultivate a spirit of cheerfulness, and we shall find so much in God and in our lives to encourage us that we shall have no room for doubt or fear.

Plentiful Refreshment

Their soul shall be as a watered garden. - Jer 31:12

Oh, to have one’s soul under heavenly cultivation; no longer a wilderness but a garden of the Lord! Enclosed from the waste, walled around by grace, planted by instruction, visited by love, weeded by heavenly discipline, and guarded by divine power, one’s favored soul is prepared to yield fruit unto the Lord.

But a garden may become parched for want of water, and then all its herbs decline and are ready to die. O my soul, how soon would this be the case were the Lord to leave thee! In the East, a garden without water soon ceases to be a garden at all: nothing can come to perfection, grow, or even live. When irrigation is kept up, the result is charming. Oh, to have one’s soul watered by the Holy Spirit uniformly — every part of the garden having its own stream; plentifully — a sufficient refreshment coming to every tree and herb, however thirsty by nature it may be; continually — each hour bringing not only its heat, but its refreshment; wisely — each plant receiving just what it needs. In a garden you can see by the verdure where the water flows, and you can soon perceive when the Spirit of God comes.

O Lord, water me this day and cause me to yield Thee a full reward for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

Life’s journey walking with Jesus. No matter how hard or weary the journey may become at times. We as Noah and Enoch of old must keep walking. For one day and much sooner than expected life’s journey will be over and we shall sail far beyond the skies to those celestial shores where our ship will dock forever more.

Merry Christmas to all!

I remember as a child my dad had a saying when we didn't like what was set on the dinner table. "You'll eat it or do without" When Jesus was on the mount of temptation, satan tempted Him to make stones into bread. Jesus response was: "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God" Jesus said in John 12 that He didn't come to judge the world but to save it. The world has one that judges it, the Word that I have spoken the same shall judge it in the last day. But many would split hairs over which word or words He was speaking of. But He told the devil that it was every Word. So when it comes down to it; we'll just have to eat it or do without.
