Dear North Christian Family of Faith,

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you (us) will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
‭‭(Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭6‬)

Pastor’s Ponderings, Praises, and Prayer requests:

Praise! The! Lord! We see the Grace, Giving, Guidance, and Goodness of God at work in the North Christian Church. To Him, be all the Glory!
Every week, we see the presence of God’s precious people. We see people who love to come to church to worship Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord and Savior. We see people who love to come to church to receive a fresh in-filling of the Holy Spirit. We see people who love to come to church to study, hear, and follow The Word of God. We see people who love to come to church, just to love…and to be loved. That is what we are doing, and must be doing in these “last days”, as the True Remnant Church of Jesus Christ. (What do you love about NCC?) Jesus gave us His command to love one another. He says in John 13:34-35, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.” Wow! I love that command. Thank You, Jesus.
‭‭Loving each other in the church is manifested through intercessory prayers, constant words of encouragement (Remember: at NCC, never is heard a discouraging word.), joyful conversations and laughter; and, of course, regular (holy) hugs by the leading of the Holy Spirit. North Christian Church is definitely a place to love and to be loved. Also, in these amazing days, we are experiencing a new and fresh outpouring of The Holy Spirit. He is giving us the power to Proclaim God’s Word through Bible studies and Preaching, to Share Jesus with new boldness (Even through our Youth and Children), to Pray increasingly and unceasingly, and to Give generously! We are a very Giving church. Sharon and I are so, so thankful for the outpouring of love and giving from our North Christian Family this past Sunday. It is hard to find the adequate words to express our heart-felt (and -filled) gratitude. We are humbled and overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity. We cannot thank you enough for your wonderful gift and your words of love to us. We Love you, and Praise and Thank God for each and every one of YOU!
Our praises continue in the church as we see God’s continual healing. This Sunday was another display that, as someone said, “God is showing off again!” (He always does.) Every week, we see how God has touched and healed those who have been through sicknesses, surgeries, and other serious situations. This past Sunday, we were blessed to see Joyce, Cindy, and many others back in church. By the way, we are also praising the Lord for the new addition coming to the Cox family. Congratulations, Andy, Abby and all the family. Praise The Lord!
We like to say - “Prayers answered, Prayers continue.”
So, let’s continue to pray…for those in need and who are hurting. Many were brought to Jesus in the Bible, who were in these conditions, and He healed them. “Great crowds came to Him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at His feet; and He healed them.”(Matthew‬ ‭15‬:‭30‬‬‬).
Let us keep bringing our loved ones to Jesus in prayer for His healing touch in their lives. Last but not least, let us continue to pray for each other, and the family of; our dear friend and Brother, John Hendrix, who went to be with The Lord last Friday morning, May 1st. John was a loved and longtime member, and a devoted volunteer who served at North Christian Church in many areas. He will truly be missed. His memorial service will be this Friday at Seal‘s Funeral Home in Fortville. May God continue to bless every person, family, and ministry at the Markleville North Christian Church this month, and in the months ahead. Our Prayers are being answered…our prayers will continue. Praise God!
With much Love and deep Gratitude to all, Pastor John

Easter…What it Really Means.

“He is not here. He is Risen, just as He said.” - Matthew 28:6

I have a suspicious feeling that many people are thankful for Easter, mainly because of the change of warmer weather that comes with it. They’re just so thankful that winter, for the most part, is over; and who can blame them? We’re all done with the cold and the snow. Happy Springtime!
Next, some may be thankful for Easter because it marks the end of their giving up something for Lent. Easter may bring, for them, the actual day they can go back to eating chocolate, sweets, or whatever else it is they have given up for the last forty days. If this is true for you, I hope your sacrifice during Lent helped you grow closer to God; but please be careful and don’t overdo the chocolate thing. You might get a tummy ache, and no one wants that. Happy chocolate eating!
Of course, there are those who may be looking at Easter for the bunny and the egg thing. They like cute bunnies and they love to color chicken eggs and then hide them and let the kids hunt for them and find them. Yay! It is a joyful moment when a child finds an Easter egg…So have a great time with the eggs. (Oh…and don’t forget to boil them first; unless, of course, you use the plastic ones. Don’t boil them.) Happy egg hunting!
Still, there are others who just might be looking to Easter as that one time in the year when they do get up and go to church. Great! Easter is reserved annually on their calendar for that one time they attend church services. They might do this on Easter Sunday to appease a loved one, or do the family thing, or fulfill some kind of feeling of obligation they may have for not going the other fifty-one weeks. For whatever reason, it is always a blessing to see them in church. They are there with everyone else in church on this very special Sunday to remember the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; and to worship Him. Good for them. So let’s gather and celebrate Jesus, together, on this Day of days! We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at church this Easter Sunday. (Many people gathered together to watch the rocket ship launch to the moon this week. Wow. We pray for their safety. But, even more, let’s gather and celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection this week. That is more significant and exciting than the Artemis II.) Happy orbiting!
Now, what about Easter for the rest of us? To every true believer, Easter is the most important day on the calendar and the most important day in our lives; but Easter is not just celebrated one Sunday a year. The resurrection of Jesus is celebrated every Sunday (And every day!) throughout the year at North Christian Church. Jesus resurrected from the grave on the third day after His crucifixion. This means that Easter is certainly more than the end of Lent, or that time of colorful eggs and bunny rabbits. Easter is so much more than just getting dressed up and coming to church on that symbolic one-Sunday-a-year quota for church attendance. (Sorry.) Easter Sunday is the crowning moment of Jesus‘s miraculous Life, the fulfillment of His earthly ministry, and His ultimate victory over sin and death!! On Easter Sunday, Jesus accomplished His mission of love and purpose of salvation for all mankind, when He rose up from the tomb that could not hold Him. He came forth and brought proof to all of His promises. He fantastically finished God’s plan of salvation for all the world.
Easter, then, to all who believe in Jesus, is transformational. We cannot truly and sincerely look at Jesus the same after His resurrection. We cannot be observers of an empty tomb, and walk away unchanged. To every True Believer in Jesus, Easter is not only an occasion to put on new clothes, but an opportunity to start living new lives! We must never let Easter pass without making a new commitment to live our lives more fully, for the one who gave Himself completely, to save us to be with Him, eternally. The real meaning of Easter is all about the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
I have a feeling those who seriously and personally believe in Jesus and the true meaning of Easter, will discover the beginning of a new life and hope and purpose, by which, to live their lives. Then, we will have a deeper commitment to Jesus, our risen Lord, for the other 364 days of the year, as we willingly and joyfully “ Deny ourselves, take up our crosses daily, and follow Him.” (Luke 9:23)
So, Happy Easter to everyone. Enjoy the colorful eggs, the new clothes, the warmer weather, and the chocolate candy…but don’t forget that Easter is really all about Jesus and His resurrection from the dead. He is alive forevermore, and because of that historical fact, we can live forever, too, when we truly believe in Him.
“For I am the Resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, even though he dies, yet shall he live; and he who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” -Jesus. (John 11:25-26).
Love to all, PJ

Dear Friends and Family of Faith -

Forty-eight years ago today, January 25, 1978, the Blizzard of ‘78 began.
It covered much of the Midwest and Eastern United States with an average of over twenty inches of snow, forty mile per hour winds, and sub zero temperatures. Today, forty-eight years later to the day, we are experiencing another devastating winter storm that covers most of the United States. Because of the dangerous conditions and the large amount of snowfall, we have decided to close NCC church today. Stay safe.
Let’s worship the Lord together anyway…on line.

In the book of Job: 36:7, we read, “For to the snow He says, 'Fall on the earth,' likewise to the downpour, His mighty downpour."

This verse in Job reminds us that whatever our feeling is about snow, we know that God creates it and sends it.
Today, we can discover many spiritual lessons through the snow.
Snowfall is just one display of God’s majestic power, which is seen in His Creation - including all of the earth’s seasons, natural laws, systems, and perfect order. God’s power is displayed through snow and nature.
Besides that, a fresh blanket of snow, to most people, is a picturesque scene of peace and beauty covering the earth. Thousands of artists have painted snow-covered scenic landscapes. Everyone, at one time or another, has exclaimed - Snow is really pretty! God’s beauty is displayed in snow.
Also, snow, and more specifically, individual snowflakes, are used to illustrate that God makes each of us to be different, special, and unique. Snowflakes are all individually different. Likewise, God makes no two people to be exactly the same. By God’s design, we are all created with individual characteristics and personalities. Also, we must come to Jesus and accept Him into our lives, individually. God is personal and one on one with each of us!
Another lesson we learn from The Bible, when it comes to snow, is that God uses snow to describe our lives when we are cleansed and forgiven of our sins. In Isaiah we read - “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow…”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭18‬a. (NKJV‬‬)
Also, David writes in the Psalms, “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭7‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)
Like we said at Upward yesterday, Let’s look at the snow today as a reminder to us, to ask God to forgive us of all our sins and to cleanse us as white as snow.
The old Hymn says it like this:
Lord Jesus, I long to be perfectly whole,
I want Thee forever to live in my soul;
Break down every idol, cast out every foe;
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Whiter than snow; yes, whiter than snow;
Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
Lord Jesus, let nothing unholy remain,
Apply Thine own blood and extract every stain;
To get this blest cleansing I all things forego;
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Lord Jesus, look down from Thy throne in the skies,
And help me to make a complete sacrifice;
I give up myself and whatever I know;
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Lord Jesus, for this I most humbly entreat;
I wait, blessed Lord, at Thy crucified feet;
By faith, for my cleansing I see Thy blood flow;
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Lord Jesus, Thou seest I patiently wait;
Come now, and within me a new heart create;
To those who have sought Thee Thou never saidst, No;
Now wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Whiter than snow; yes whiter than snow. Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow. God wants to forgive us and cleanse us of all our sins! Jesus has made the way for that to happen through His blood.

Our prayers this Sunday morning are for everyone to be healed from their illnesses, diseases, and injuries. For everyone to be safe and stay warm in this winter storm. Most of all, we pray that everyone will be forgiven of their sins today, be right with God and be made as white and pure…as the New driven snow!
Today, let Jesus come in to your heart and cleanse you of all your sins.
I John 1:9 says - “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” AMEN!
Love to everyone this Sunday morning. I miss you all soooo much!
- Pastor John
