John Baptist Church was founded on September 18, 1956 by the late Reverend Charles Lee Guyse. After holding services in garages at three different locations in the Markham community, Greater St. John purchased property on the 166th Block on Wolcott Ave. It was here that the permanent sanctuary was built and the membership continued to build. Guyse pastored Greater St. John for 37 years until his r

etirement in 1993. On April 25, 2011, Reverend Anthony C. Frazier was elected the 7th pastor in the history of GSJ. He is the grandson of the late Rev. Guyse and since his arrival GSJ has grown spiritually, theologically, numerically, and financially.
