Marissa Presbyterian Church

Marissa Presbyterian Church A friendly family church dedicated to Jesus Christ and the preaching of His Word. If you would like to talk with someone about Jesus, please give us a call!

At Marissa Presbyterian Church we worship the One True God Who made all things and Who has revealed Himself to us in the Bible and especially through His Son, Jesus Christ. We believe that 'all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God' (Romans 3:23), and that 'the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.' (Romans 6:23) We believe that '

God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will have everlasting life.' (John 3:16)

We would love to talk with you more about Jesus, no matter who you are, where you have come from, or how old you are.

Dear MPC;

The Trustees of the MPC would appreciate everyone’s help on Saturday, September 24th as we work on maintenance and upkeep on the church property. We will have breakfast and the work day will start at 8:00am. We will have jobs for all ages and abilities.

Some of the items that we will be working on include trimming the landscaping, landscaping around the manse, trimming trees, power-washing and cleaning the manse fence, replacing screen on the manse screen door, fixing tile in basement bathroom, cleaning several closets, and many other items.

Many hands make light work so we hope you will be able to join us for a fun day of working and fellowship.

Thanks,

Brandon Voss
Trustee Chairman

Need more of God’s grace in your life? I do. Is there anything we can do to receive more or less grace?

“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6

If His grace is a waterfall, it flows freely to the humble. But there is resistance from the proud. I know there are times when I put myself above God…my way over His plans. The posture of my heart is not in tune with His grace. I don’t want to be out of the stream of His grace. May our heart posture be one of humility today. And may we soak in His grace! It is freely given to the humble in heart. - Sandi

I get up pretty early to come to work. Most restaurants aren’t open yet. A couple have their lights on and are prepping for the day, but their “closed” signs are up and they’re not serving anyone yet.

“Faith without action is dead.” James 2:26

Here’s the analogy: If you’re cooking food, brewing the coffee and cleaning the floors, you may very well be a restaurant. But if you’re not serving anyone, then no one is benefiting….essentially, you’re closed. But if you’re cooking AND serving, then you’re open for business! Here’s the question: Does your faith in Jesus affect anyone? Who are you serving? That’s the kind of faith that is alive and open for business! - Sandi

This was on 'the Pour Over' this morning.

QUOTE OF THE DAY
“The remarkable thing about God is that when you fear God, you fear nothing else, whereas if you do not fear God, you fear everything else.”
Oswald Chambers

I have never lost my temper and been proud of it. I have spoken hastily and unkindly. And those roads have always led to regret and hurt feelings.

“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry…” James 1:19

God invites us into a better way. This verse is so practical. And it is so helpful….for you and the person on the other side of your anger. Odds are, you’re going to have an opportunity to put this verse into practice today. May God’s Spirit tame our tongues and our “quick fuses.” May we be quick to listen… to Him and everyone else in our path today. – Sandi

I’m kind of fascinated with the word, “hope.” I think it has such a deeper meaning than the casual, “I hope so.”

“He has given us…a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:3.

When our hope is rooted in Jesus, it is a vibrant confidence. When Jesus conquered death, walked out of a grave, and ascended into heaven…..alive…..He changed the definition of hope.

Our hope isn’t that a situation turns out ok. Our hope is anchored in a living Savior. So, we place our confidence in a person, not an outcome. We have a living hope….His name is Jesus. – Sandi
