A MOMENT IN BLACK HISTORY: Bishop R.F. Davis (March 15, 1921 β October 19, 2017)
In the late 1940s, during the height of segregation, the Lord God Almighty anointed Bishop R.F. Davis to establish a ministry that would stand as a testament to faith, resilience, and community empowerment. With only $2.50 in his pocket and the responsibility of providing for five children, he embarked on a remarkable journey of service and leadership.
Bishop Davis was the founder of what is now known as The Greater Highway Churches of Christ, Inc., headquartered in Marion, South Carolina. Through his vision and dedication, he built and engineered 15 churches from the ground up and facilitated the affiliation of numerous congregations along the eastern seaboard of the United States, as well as in Jamaica and Nigeria. His greatest legacy, however, lies in the countless individuals who have given their lives to Christ through his ministry.
Beyond the physical churches he constructed, Bishop Davis served as a mentor and spiritual guide to numerous pastors, ministers, and entrepreneurs, many of whom owe their foundational growth to his unwavering leadership. His influence extends beyond denominational boundaries, shaping communities and inspiring generations.
On the morning of October 19, 2017, Bishop R.F. Davis departed this life, leaving behind an indelible legacy of faith and perseverance. Today, we honor and celebrate his extraordinary contributions as a cornerstone of Black history. His lifeβs work continues to resonate, and his memory remains cherished.
We love and miss you, sir.
