Bright Lights

Bright Lights Bright Lights is a discipleship ministry designed to equip young ladies to use the years of their you Young ladies everywhere are struggling.

The goal of Bright Lights is to encourage and equip older girls and mothers to disciple younger girls. This is the pattern we see in Scripture: older women teaching younger ones (Tit. 2:3-5). Jesus told us to go and make disciples, teaching them everything that He has taught us (Matt. 28:19-20). Paul told Timothy: “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to fa

ithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Tim. 2:2). In Bright Lights, our desire is to disciple girls who will disciple girls who will disciple more girls and so on. On a daily basis they are bombarded with temptations and lies of the enemy and must stand against the powerful cultural influences all around them. They need to know God’s Word and the Biblical answers to their daily struggles. They need Scriptural teaching in practical areas such as relationships with parents and siblings, honesty, purity, friendships, contentment, witnessing, and defending the faith. They need godly role-models and accountability. They need vision for what the Lord can do through their life—especially their teenage years. This is the heart cry of Bright Lights. Through conferences, books and resources, and Bright Lights groups that meet around the country, our goal is to encourage girls to seek the Lord with all their heart and to use the years of their youth for Him.

“Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity” (1 Tim. 4:12). Bright Lights Distinctives:

- We target pre-teen girls, an important age group that is often overlooked.
- We seek to be discipleship oriented, and to focus on helping the strong be stronger.
- We emphasize Biblical teaching—when Bright Lights groups meet, much of the time is spent in learning and study, as opposed to simply games or fun.
- We try to follow the 2 Timothy 2:2 pattern, training future generations—from the start, we encourage girls to be learning to disciple others.
- We strive for godly fellowship and accountability–since the groups are discipleship focused, they tend to attract serious-minded girls who are seeking the Lord. This provides the groups with positive peer pressure and accountability. We believe this is a very powerful influence in girls’ lives.

Praise the Lord! The Seasons of Purpose retreat in Australia went really well, and there were many answers to prayer. Nickie received much encouraging feedback from her sessions, and the ladies were all very encouraging!

"For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations" (Isaiah 61:11).

Nickie Biegler is in Australia speaking at a women's retreat called "Seasons of Purpose." It's been a special time of learning from God's Word, enjoying God's creation, and experiencing sweet fellowship.

Nickie will be speaking later this afternoon (Melbourne time) on "Living by Truth and Not By Emotion." When our emotions are surrendered to the Lord and His truth, we can experience peace in the midst of the storms of life.

Pray that the Lord encourages these women in Australia as they seek Him together!

My dad and I had a wonderful time speaking together at Father Daughter Camp East! It was so special to see dads and daughters growing together and enjoying each other!

I overhead one dad saying, "If God is working somewhere, that is where I want to be! And that is how I feel about this camp: God is working here!"

I felt that way too! Praise the Lord! "And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers" (Mal. 4:6).

Such an encouraging time with Bright Lights leaders this morning. Meghan Peterman shared about “Living Life in God’s Reality: Helping Girls Understand the Authority of Scripture,” and we discussed how to pass this truth to girls in our groups.

May we as Bright Lights leaders grow in our love for God's Word and pass this love on to the girls we are discipling. God's Word is life!

In Anna and Sabrina's Bright Lights group (in Kentucky), they give the girls "take home sheets" after each meeting. If the girls complete the assignments (memorize verses, read lesson with parents, etc), they get to add marbles to their group jar. When the jar is full, the whole group receives a reward!

For their first reward the girls came over to Anna's home in their pajamas to watch Sight and Sound Esther. They had a Mediterranean meal and each girl received a t shirt.

How encouraging to see the creativity of these leaders as they encourage these girls in their walk with Christ!
