Morning Manna: “And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.” Psalms 39:7

What is hope? Sadly, our English vocabulary doesn't do the word justice. For instance, how often have you heard someone say, “I hope it doesn't rain.” Biblical Hope has no question mark or nuance of hesitation.

Faith is trust and confidence in someone or something, while hope is the eager expectation and excitement of that reality. So, while these words are often used interchangeably, there is a difference.

For instance, your parents promised you a brand-new four-wheeler for your birthday. Because they gave you their word, you have faith that on your birthday, you will receive the four-wheeler promised.
This is faith.

In addition, you are also excited about this present and eagerly await your birthday, which you know will soon come. That is hope!

So next time you get discouraged with a job, co-worker, or friend, remember that none of these things were ever meant to give you purpose. Only Jesus can do that.

My prayer today is that you do not lose faith or hope in any bleak situation. You can only find them in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Morning Manna: For every thirty verses in the New Testament, there is one reference to Christ’s Second Coming.

So, in light of economic instability, government corruption, deadly disease, wickedness and injustice around the world….

Don't get too comfortable here! The early disciples were not looking for something to happen- they were looking for SOMEONE TO COME.

May our hearts cry while doing Heavens' business ever be, Maranatha- “Come Lord Jesus come.”

Morning Manna: The only man who has no problems is in the cemetery.

You see, we all face problems. Some BIG - others small, but never the less, they are there.

Years ago, I heard somebody say this:

In the gristmill of life, problems can either wear you down or make you shine. So, let them make you shine.

In life, there many things we have no choice over. There is one thing, however, God has given us the choice about. This choice is how we respond to problems/trials.

I'm praying for you today.

-Praying you don't get bitter but better.

-Praying that the Holy Spirit will make you plyable and more like Jesus.

I'm praying that through it all in the end, you are going shine. 😉

Morning Manna: “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it." 1 Corinthians 10:13

Billy Sunday once said, "Temptation is the Devil whistling at the keyhole; sinning is opening the door and letting him in."

Temptation itself is not a sin. However, yielding to it is. Here are some powerful truths found in 1 Corinthians 10:13.

First, Everyone gets tempted...
Even Jesus was tempted in Mathew 4:1-11. Regardless of your title or status in life, temptation will find you.

"But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed." James 1:14
Remember this: If our flesh is not surrendered daily to God, we are most susceptible to disobeying the Lord. (Romans 6:12-13)

Second, God knows your limit!
God knows us better than we know ourselves. He is faithful. If we desire to do everything in our power to do right, God will do the rest. Satan can only do what God allows him to. (Job 6:1-12)
"After you have suffered a little while, God will restore, strengthen, and establish you." (1 Peter 5:10)

Third, God will provide a way of escape every time! This is found by placing our faith in Christ and what He did for us at the cross.

What an extraordinary promise! When you feel there is no way out, God will make one. Granted, a person must be looking for it.

John Ruskin said, "No one can be delivered from temptation unless he has firmly determined to do the best he can to keep out of it."

When you are tempted, take it to the word of God. When Jesus was tempted by Satan, he combated each attack with scripture.

Remember, God's word is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword. (Hebrews 4:12

Morning Manna: According to Christianity Today, only 20% of Christians read their Bibles everyday. 😞

God’s word is our spiritual ammunition to fight temptation, guilt, worry and every other attack of the Devil. See, the enemy seeks to cause confusion in your mind and spirit. Feelings of unworthiness and condemnation don’t come from God. So, whether you are seeking Him for direction, healing, or cleansing, let these verses minister to you.

Psalm 119:105 says, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light into my path.”

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” 1John 5:14-15

Morning Manna: “We have learned to harness the power of the atom, but very few have learned how to develop fully the power of prayer.” - Billy Graham

John Knox prayed, and the results caused Queen Mary to say she feared Knox more than the armies of Scotland.

John Wesley prayed and revival came to England. Many believe for this reason, England was spared from the French Revolution.

Jonathan Edwards prayed and revival spread throughout the thirteen colonies.

Some people asked Smith Wigglesworth, "You are a man of faith and God has used you to do great miracles. Please tell us, How long do you pray?" "Well, I don't ever pray any longer than 20 minutes." What?" the spectators exclaimed. Then pausing Wigglesworth replied, "Yes, but I never go twenty minutes without praying."

JESUS DID NOT TEACH HIS DISCIPLES HOW TO PREACH,
HE TAUGHT THEM HOW TO PRAY. Mt 6:9-13

Morning Manna: Years ago, I preached a revival in a small delta town. Just before church started, a young man asked, “I’ve never been to a revival before. What is it?” Before I could answer him, the service began. I told him we would talk immediately after church.

That day, the praise team would lead us in worship, and I would preach a message God laid on my heart. When I gave the invitation, It felt like the entire congregation responded. The Altars were full of both young and old seeking God. Among them was the young man who asked me about revival. I saw tears streaming down his face in quiet prayer.

Heaven kissed earth.

After the service, the young man ran in my direction and gave me a bear hug that would make Tim Tebow look like a toy doll.

He said, “You don’t have to tell me what revival is... I know what it is now.” 🔥 👊 🙌

- Revival is not a group of synchronized church services.
- Revival is not an outdoor tent or a brush arbor meeting.

REVIVAL IS FALLING IN LOVE WITH JESUS ALL OVER AGAIN.

Morning Manna: Recently, heart specialists have discussed a condition they call “Broken Heart Syndrome”. Simply put, it is a heart condition triggered by extreme grief and emotional distress. You see, the strain the extra stress puts on the body causes the heart to go into “super mode”.

It's like pressing your car’s accelerator all the way to the floor. Yes, the motor is capable of going that fast. However, it was not created to go that fast ALL THE TIME!

Isn’t it interesting that our bodies, while resilient, cannot handle the negative effects of worry and strife!

Here are some helpful notes:

-Take a Sabbath rest.
-Train your mind by redirecting your thought patterns.
-Turn to Bible passages that address worry and fear. Download those verses into your spirit.
-Tell your fears to Jesus. Find a close, trusted friend you can talk to safely.
- Trust God and give Him the situation. This is the act of surrender.

Today, my prayer for you is that you sense the overwhelming love of God, and it becomes so strong that it compels you to surrender. Only then will you feel the freedom and liberty that Christ can give.

Remember Proverbs 4:23, “Above all else guard your heart, for out of it flow all the issues of life.”

Ultimately, the decision is yours. Let’s give it all to Jesus!

Morning Manna: One of my favorite Bible passages is Psalm 46:1-2, 10. “God is our refuge and strength a very present help in time of trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations…”

It is evident the Psalmist knew how to trust God in difficult times. According to a recent poll, Forty percent of Americans are dealing with elevated stress. Now, difficulty is present in every phase of life. From the infant who is learning to walk, the young boy learning to read, the young couple taking care of their aging parents- we all face it. The question is how do we deal with the stresses that overwhelm us? The answer is found in the word of God. I believe there are certain things we need to KNOW! By taking God’s truth and planting it deep in our hearts, we will be rooted when the hardest storms hit.

Notice three words that describe God in verse 1. First, God is our refuge. What is a refuge? A refuge is a shelter, a fortress but more importantly, it is a place. How many of you know a person who only goes to church in a crisis or only prays and opens their Bible when they’re in trouble? Yes, our Lord is a refuge but He wants to be a place you live in and not just occupy on weekends. Psalm 91 says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” We can only find that rest when we dwell permanently in His place of refuge. The Psalmist knew this.

The second word I want you to notice is “strength.” While refuge is a place, His strength is the power! This power is a supernatural strength available to those who make God their refuge. What is the anointing? It is a supernatural strength to do what you couldn’t do otherwise without God’s help. God anointed David to kill a giant with a sling. God anointed Moses to lead a nation. God anointed Paul to overcome a snake bite! Has the difficulty you are facing brought you down? Do you feel like you have no strength? I have good news for you! His supernatural strength is available to you!

The final word I want you to notice is, “help.” This is His presence. In the gospel of John, Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit as our helper! In the Greek, He is referred to as the “parakletos”, one who is called alongside to help! Jesus knew we would need help. This is why He sent the Holy Spirit. He is not an “it”. He is a person. Hebrews 4:15-16 says, “For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things as we are yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive each and find grace to help in our time of need.”

In closing the Psalmist says, “Be still and know that I am God.” Warren Wiersbe says, this phrase means to “take your hands off of it.” Isn’t that what we have to do sometimes? After we have done all we can do, in yielded surrender place our concerns in the Lord’s hands.

My prayer is that through every difficult situation, we will find his peace!

Morning Manna: In 1900, a deadly hurricane hit Galveston, TX. Tragically, 6,000 lives were lost, and much of the city was destroyed. While a storm of this magnitude is certainly deadly, one might ask why SO MANY lives were lost?

The reason? Misinformation.

A local weather forecaster, Isaac Cline, downplayed the hurricane. This led the city to disregard the FACTS. So, instead of evacuating the city, thousands of Texans were sitting ducks in the pathway of danger.

Misinformation is much like a hurricane!
It destroys reputations, straining relationships until they are completely dissolved. I think we can learn from this!
See, the enemy is very good at spreading misinformation. In John 8:44, Jesus calls him the Father of lies.

Next time you are approached with what you might think is MISINFORMATION…

- Consider the SOURCE. Ask yourself, “Who is this person? What is their background? Do they have a record? Are they qualified to make this decision? Have they ever done this before? Do they have any credibility?”

- Consider the FACTS. What do the numbers say? What is on the video surveillance? What did YOU see and hear? In many cases, if it acts, walks, and quacks like a duck, IT IS!!!

- What does your gut say? For the Christian, the Holy Spirit ALWAYS leads to TRUTH! The God nudge in your heart is never wrong. (John 15)
His sheep know His voice! (Jn 10:27)

In a world of misinformation, may WE be known as people of truth and light!

Lord, help us to walk in your truth and easily discern your will in every situation!
