The Parson's Log September 15th/16th; I have been in the wagon for much of yesterday and the overnight. The missus and I have are making the long trek to Canton, Ohio to see the boy participate in extra curricular activities with some of his classmates. Yesterday before the start of our journey was honestly, intolerable as I was busy preparing the wagon, feeding livestock and making sure the homestead was taken care of. After the Missus got home, we made sure everything was packed and we left. The wagon trail snakes along from a mere goat path from Marion through the Fredonia Valley to Princeton, from there the trail is more passable. This is is known as the Western Ky trail which takes you to the settlement of Elizabethtown. From there you take the Northern trail to Louisville and follow the Ohio River to Cincinnati and there you trek into the Northern badlands of Columbus into Akron and onto Canton. We are excited to see the boy and his chums. Hopefully, they will mercilessly pummel the carpet baggers from the North. No matter what happens it will be good to see the boy. The missus father and his wife will also be in Canton for the day and overnight as well. I rather enjoy being regaled with stories of yesteryear from my father in law. His wit and interesting take on life brings much joy and mirth to my heart. His dear wife is delightful as well. However, do not let her sweet countenance fool you, she is not one to be trifled with, especially playing cards. If I were a gambler (and the Parson is not), she will smile sweetly while taking all of your belongings in a game of blackjack and 5 card stud.. Perhaps later we will update how the events of the day plays out.
