I am by no means an expert on anything, just some observations

The vast majority of my preaching is expository, and there's definitely some things that are definite advantages to it, but there's plenty of pitfalls to avoid as well.

The Parson's Log September 15th/16th; I have been in the wagon for much of yesterday and the overnight. The missus and I have are making the long trek to Canton, Ohio to see the boy participate in extra curricular activities with some of his classmates. Yesterday before the start of our journey was honestly, intolerable as I was busy preparing the wagon, feeding livestock and making sure the homestead was taken care of. After the Missus got home, we made sure everything was packed and we left. The wagon trail snakes along from a mere goat path from Marion through the Fredonia Valley to Princeton, from there the trail is more passable. This is is known as the Western Ky trail which takes you to the settlement of Elizabethtown. From there you take the Northern trail to Louisville and follow the Ohio River to Cincinnati and there you trek into the Northern badlands of Columbus into Akron and onto Canton. We are excited to see the boy and his chums. Hopefully, they will mercilessly pummel the carpet baggers from the North. No matter what happens it will be good to see the boy. The missus father and his wife will also be in Canton for the day and overnight as well. I rather enjoy being regaled with stories of yesteryear from my father in law. His wit and interesting take on life brings much joy and mirth to my heart. His dear wife is delightful as well. However, do not let her sweet countenance fool you, she is not one to be trifled with, especially playing cards. If I were a gambler (and the Parson is not), she will smile sweetly while taking all of your belongings in a game of blackjack and 5 card stud.. Perhaps later we will update how the events of the day plays out.

The Parson's Log August 7th

The Rooster has not crowed this morn and I have already been up for well nigh 2 hours. It came an unexpected deluge so I put the livestock up in the barn for the night. After lying back down slumber escapes me. Services this past Lord's Day went well. I preached from I Corinthians 5:1-13 about how that the Lord's Flock has the responsibility to judge, open and flagrant sin. It seemed to be well received. After a time of fellowship The Missus, boy and I went to an eating establishment for some nourishment. Afterward, we came back to the homestead and relaxed. On August 13th the boy will be going to my aged parents abode and spending time with them and my brother and his family. Then he will be back at University. This summer break has flown.by, but we are glad that he's got to to spend time with us. It's a blessing to see him mature and grow into a responsibile young man. I pray that God will protect him while he's away and that he will be wise to stay away from wild women of ill repute. We are also immensely thankful for the Faith Baptist Church of Versailles, Ky for looking after the boy and his dormmate from the Montana territory, Charley.. I am still at Mr Crocketts telegraph office as well Parsoning the congregation at Central. My health continues to improve as the Missus and I try to eat healthier. My neuropathic issues are much better as well as joint pain. There is much to rejoice in, but I have much to continue working on. Continued prayers for the Parson and his family would be appreciated.
