Community members gathered at the clocktower in downtown Marion Thursday at noon for Marion's observance of the 75th Annual National Day of Prayer observance, themed “Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations.”

The event featured prayers and reflections focused on the military, government, first responders, media, businesses, churches, families and education.

Shara Bloodworth welcomed attendees, while Cody Moake delivered the proclamation of prayer and led the prayer for local government. Music was provided by Chris and Mandi Sprague, and additional speakers included Tom Harness (military), Keith Gilley (first responders), Tim Petrowich (media), Russ Williams (business), Richard Fyke (churches and leaders), John Steve (community service gatekeepers) and Darrell Wimberly (education).

Virgil Walton delivered the closing remarks and led the singing of the “Doxology” to conclude the program.

Please join us today at 12noon for the National Day of Prayer!

2 Samuel 22:29-31
For you are my lamp, O Lord,
and my God lightens my darkness.
For by you I can run against a troop,
and by my God I can leap over a wall.
This God—his way is perfect;
the word of the Lord proves true;
he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

Due to the construction on the Marion Square, we will be meeting at First Baptist Church on the North East side of the lawn.
