Crowded facilities and a desire for an expanded program led to the construction of the Fellowship Hall in 1963, which was later used as a temporary Sanctuary. That same year, a concentrated Sanctuary building effort was begun. The Atlanta-based architectural firm of Toombs, Amisano and Wells was selected, with Tom Venulet as the primary designer. The firm was instructed to make the design dignified, simple and contemporary, with the inside activity determining outside appearance. The new Sanctuary was dedicated at a service in October1967. In this unique building, seating is on both sides and in front of the pulpit area, with accomodations for 500 people, including the choir, which is elevated in a balcony at the rear of the center section. Ground-breaking for the Christian Education Building, complete with nine classrooms, was held in July of 1979, and construction was finished before the following Easter. The new building greatly enhanced the Sunday School program for John Knox, as well as allowing an expanded weekday preschool program. Later expansions of the facilities included a newly renovated Fellowship Hall, dedicated in 1990, and a refurbishing of the Sanctuary, re-dedicated in May of 1998. John Knox is a growing and vibrant church with many of its charter members, and new members joining from a growing population base in booming East Cobb County. John Knox Presbyterian Church is looking toward the future with optimism and excitement. With the limitless boundaries that the future holds, John Knox's presence and outreach in Cobb County will continue to expand and prosper in its efforts to serve the community and the world through God's gift of Jesus Christ.

What a blessing our 23rd Annual Christmas Corner was! πŸŽ„

Last week, with the support of our community, we raised over $1,000- and every dollar goes to Helping Hands to directly support neighbors experiencing financial crisis.

Thank you for showing up, giving generously, and being the hands and feet of Christ. Many thanks as well to our volunteers- we couldn’t have done this without you! See you next year! πŸŽ„πŸŽ„

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Thanksgiving Boxes project a success! Every year, JKPC fills 40 boxes with food for families experiencing food insecurity.

When the schools close for Thanksgiving break, the families whose children rely on free and reduced meals at the school do not have that option. With these boxes, we can ensure that our neighbors are fed.

Many thanks to our volunteers. We could not have done this without the countless kind and generous souls who donated their time, money, food, and help to this project.

For more ways you can help JKPC with its mission to encourage, welcome, and support our neighbors in need, please visit our website!

Once a month, The Newcomers Club of Cobb County meets here at JKPC.Β  The Club is a women’s social club that provides a friendly atmosphere and a wide variety of member-run activities. Women make new friends and get adjusted to a new place or a new time in their lives, as promoting friendship is their mission! TheyΒ support our community at JKPC through their β€œNewcomers Helping Others” program. Each month they collect needed items for a wide variety of charities.

The picture you see here shows their very generous contribution to our Thanksgiving Boxes outreach, in which food items are collected, sorted, packed, and then delivered to our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. This ministry is especially important over the holiday when food prices go up and schools are closed, making food accessibility more difficult.

If you would like to learn more about The Newcomers Club of Cobb County, check out their website here: https://www.newcomersofcobbcounty.com

Thank you very much ladies! 🀍

Every year, Americans from across the country gather with their families for a season of thanks. For most, this holiday brings about abundant food and nourishment, but for some, food insecurity does not take a break for the holidays.

Families with children who rely on school meals as their main source of food often go hungry during the holidays. So many of our neighbors do not have basic pantry items, and with SNAP Benefits being cut, our community needs us more than ever.

John Knox Presbyterian Church has put together 𝟜𝟘 π•‹π•™π•’π•Ÿπ•œπ•€π•˜π•šπ•§π•šπ•Ÿπ•˜ 𝔹𝕠𝕩𝕖𝕀 each November for over a decade now, and this year will be no exception. Due to the demand for non perishable food items, we humbly ask for donations and support in order to feed our neighbors this holiday. Please see the image in this post for donation suggestions.

We try to provide β€œextras” for families with small children and special needs (ex: diapers, gluten free options, can openers for families living in hotels, festive paper plates and napkins for Thanksgiving). Little extras (books, coloring books, crayons) would also be much appreciated.
Β
If you would like to help beyond donating items and are able, we would love to see you on Friday, November 21st at 6:30 PM, where we will pack the boxes with food and have them prepared for delivery to our neighbors.

If you have any questions, please send us a message!
