Our Stake Emergency Preparedness & JustServe Volunteer Fair is coming up on September 12 from 10 AM–1 PM!

Come learn, prepare, serve, and connect with others in our stake as we find ways to better prepare our families and bless those around us.

There will be opportunities to learn about emergency preparedness, food storage, family resources, JustServe service opportunities, and more.

Whether you're looking to be better prepared or simply looking for a way to serve, there's something for everyone.

A Change in Our Stake Presidency

During Stake Conference, we had the opportunity to sustain a change in our Stake Presidency. We are grateful for the faithful service of Brother Schwieger, who was released as a counselor in the Stake Presidency. We thank him for the time, sacrifice, love, and spiritual leadership he has given to the members of our stake. We are also grateful to welcome Brother Rose, who was called and sustained as a new counselor in the Stake Presidency. We look forward to supporting him as he serves alongside the Stake President and First Counselor.

A Stake Presidency has the responsibility to provide spiritual leadership and guidance to the wards and branches within the stake. They work with local leaders to strengthen individuals and families, care for those in need, support missionary and temple work, and help members come closer to Jesus Christ. These callings are opportunities to serve, minister, seek revelation, and help build the kingdom of God.

We are grateful for those who willingly give their time and hearts to serve the Lord and His children. We are excited for the continued work ahead and for the blessings that come as we seek to follow the Savior together.

One of the ways you can serve at our upcoming Emergency Preparedness & JustServe Volunteer Fair is by donating blood with the American Red Cross.

Every blood donation has the potential to help someone in our community during an emergency, surgery, accident, or serious illness. It only takes about an hour, but your donation could make a life-changing difference for someone you've never even met.

Protect Your Family. Be Prepared.

As part of our upcoming Emergency Preparedness & JustServe Volunteer Fair, we're excited to offer a FREE Child Identification Program for families in our community.

The program, sponsored by the Nelms Masonic Lodge, creates a comprehensive identification packet that includes:

Digital photographs
Fingerprints
DNA and scent information
Important identifying details and parent/guardian contact information

The completed information is given directly to the family to keep. The program does not retain the identifying information after the packet is prepared.

And this isn't just for children. There is no age limit. Older family members can participate too.

The entire process takes about 10–15 minutes and can provide valuable information to help law enforcement quickly identify and locate a loved one if they ever go missing.

Being prepared isn't about expecting something bad to happen. It's about being ready to protect the people we love.

We are excited to announce that Elder Ethan Buffington of the Allatoona Ward has been called to serve in the Washington Vancouver Mission!

Ethan is excited to get to work, serve the Lord, and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people he will meet along the way.

As he begins this new chapter, he is guided by his favorite scripture:

“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.”
Revelation 22:14

We are grateful for Ethan’s willingness to serve and his desire to share the light of the Savior with others. We know the Lord will bless him, teach him, and use him to bless the lives of many.

Congratulations, Elder Buffington! We’ll be praying for you and cheering you on every step of the way.

Stake Conference is coming up!

Twice each year, we have a special opportunity to pause from the busyness of life, gather together as a stake, and turn our hearts toward the Savior.

Stake Conference is a time to worship, receive inspired counsel, strengthen our faith, and feel the Spirit as we learn from those who have been called to lead and serve us.

We invite everyone to come with an open heart and a desire to draw closer to Jesus Christ. You never know what message, prompting, or moment of peace the Lord may have waiting for you.
