Here’s a refresher on our pumpkin origins!
People ask all the time where our pumpkins come from. Today seems like a good time to share the origins of the Due West Pumpkins. Here's a picture of last year's pumpkin field.
The Due West UMC pumpkins are grown in the upland desert region of New Mexico. That area is blessed with high elevation, dry air, and limited insect population. The supplier we use is committed to sustainable agricultural practices including varying crops from year to year to limit pest problems thereby reducing the need for insecticides. They use cover crops to prevent soil erosion & suppress weeds which limits the need for the use of herbicides. Finally, they use soil-mapping technology, which enables them to use the optimal amount of seed and fertilizer and maximize yields efficiently. All of the Due West pumpkins and gourds are non-GMO.
You can feel great about supporting Due West Youth ministries by buying pumpkins and gourds here that follow responsible agricultural practices which have less of an impact on the environment.
So now you know… they’re not JUST super cute pumpkins!
