Letter from our Board of Rabbis and Cantors regarding attack on Mosque:
“To our brothers and sisters in the Muslim community, and to all members of our community of good will:
The hand of hate strikes again. And the scene is too familiar: at a place of worship, on a holy day, and with many, many children in the vicinity.
It is hard to express how much the care of our neighbors and members of our community means to us, as a Jewish community, when people reach out when we are in pain and under attack. This support is a light in the darkness; it buoys and sustains us at time of need.
Well, it is our turn. And now our hearts are broken, for you, with you, along with you.
As representatives of the Jewish community, the South Jersey Board of Rabbis and Cantors is united in expressing our horror at the events in San Diego on May 18, 2026. We are confirmed in our commitment to send a message of love, support and solidarity to the Muslim community, especially during this observance of Dhu'l-Hijjah.
We know that diversity and difference can be a source of strength. The different threads compose the tapestry of a beautiful community. May we all find ways to build bridges to one another, to be there for one another and, for all of us, to live in safety, security and peace.”
Inshallah, and may God help us make it so.
B'shalom (in peace),
The South Jersey Board of Rabbis and Cantors
