Obituary for Jerry Ayers
Jerry Lee Ayers, 61, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in Mansfield, Texas.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Crowell Methodist Church at 10:00.
Jerry was born on October 14, 1964 to H.L. and Thelma Ayers. He was the 6th generation to be raised on the family farm east of Margaret.
Jerry attended Crowell High School until he graduated in May 1983. He then attended college at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Soon after graduation from there he started his teaching career at Dallas Carter High School.
Jerry’s teaching passion was in the theatre where he touched the lives of many children. He also enjoyed writing one act plays, performing in plays and judging one act plays at the high school level. Jerry later went on to be an award winning playwright and one of his plays gained International acclaim.
Jerry is survived by his wife Victoria, of Arlington; his mother Thelma of Crowell; his sister Susan (Ricky) of Crowell and his brother Lance also of Crowell. He is also survived by his nephew Shane (Kristy) and his niece Kelsey (Luke) along with his great nephew Wade. Other survivors include Justin Butler, Laura Climer (Phillip) and grandchildren Patrick, Thomas and Allison Climer.
