We have been notified about a scam being sent to some of our members and also others who are not members of our congregation. A scammer pretending to be Pastor Van Hemert has been texting on an IPhone, requesting gift cards to be sent to him. THIS IS A SCAM. Pastor Van Hemert would NEVER ask anyone to purchase gift cards for him.

If you have received such a text message, DO NOT RESPOND. Simply report it as spam and block the phone number. If you respond, the scammer will know that your phone is an active number for future scams.

If you have received such a text message, please call the church office so we can keep a record of this and report it to the Iowa District East office.

On this day called Good Friday, the Williamsburg Circuit Tre Ore service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy from 12pm-3pm.

The Chief Service with Holy Communion will be celebrated at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo at 6:30pm.

🎉 HIGHER THINGS ‘FUN DAY’ FUNDRAISER 🎉

⏰ 12:00–4:00 PM

📍 Food served 12:00–2:00 PM

Several of our youth will be attending the Higher Things Youth Conference in St. Louis this summer, and we’re hosting a FUN DAY fundraiser to help support their trip!

Since many schools are on spring break, we thought it would be the perfect time to gather for an afternoon of food, games, and fun. Come hang out, watch the March Madness Men’s Basketball Tournament, and enjoy some great food with friends and family.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Everyone is welcome — adults, kids, and friends too!

🍽 Lunch Available – $5

Includes:

• Sub sandwich or pulled pork

• Chips

• Pasta salad

• Dessert

• Drink

Lunch will be served while supplies last.

🥪 Sub Sandwich Fundraiser

Youth will also be selling sub sandwiches that can be:

• Eaten at the event

• Picked up Friday during Fun Day

• Picked up after church services on Saturday or Sunday (March 21–22)

We had quite a bit of wind last night (up to 60 mph gusts)! Because of this, we had some damage to the church property due to a tree. Thank you to Mr. Daniel Sanchez and Badger John from LERT (Lutheran Early Response Team) for quickly coming down to Marengo and removing the fallen branch! We are very thankful!

Our sister in Christ, Janis Hinrichs was taken from us this morning.

She has come unto Mount Zion,
and unto the city of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem,
and to an innumerable company of angels,
to the general assembly and church of the firstborn,
which are written in heaven,
and to the Judge of all,
and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
and to Jesus,
the mediator of the new covenant,
and to the blood of sprinkling,
that speaks better things than that of Abel.

Visitation will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo, Iowa, on Friday, January 9th from 5-7 p.m.
She will be laid to rest from the Church on Saturday morning, January 10th at 10:30 a.m.

May she rest in peace.

A meal will follow the funeral service at the church. Following the meal, the committal will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural Victor. All are welcome.
