Thursday, May 7, 2026, marks the 75th annual National Day of Prayer, with the theme “Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations,” drawn from 1 Chronicles 16:24. Tens of thousands of prayer gatherings are scheduled across all 50 states, U.S. territories, and Washington, D.C., culminating in a 90-minute virtual prayer service broadcast live from Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol at 8 p.m. EDT. The event will air on CBN, Salem Radio, and a number of other networks.

The tradition traces back to February 1952, when evangelist Billy Graham stood on the steps of the U.S. Capitol and challenged Congress to set aside one day each year for the nation to turn to God in prayer. Within months, Congress passed the joint resolution and President Harry S. Truman signed it into law. Three quarters of a century later, the call has only grown louder.
“Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.” — 1 Chronicles 16:24
A nation that prays together does not fall apart easily. Wherever you are tomorrow, take a moment, lift your eyes, and remember the God who is still seated on the throne. He has heard every prayer ever whispered for this country, and He is not finished with America yet.
