First Baptist Church Texans On Mission Response Teams

This week your Texans on Mission team has been in Kerrville rebuilding the children’s department at Trinity Baptist Church and an individual’s home. These were damaged in the latest round of flooding. Trinity Baptist has been so supportive to the different TXM teams for more than 13 months. They have given up part of their building to house and feed hundreds of mud out and rebuild teams and are still continuing to support these teams. Now, it’s our time to support them! We came in Monday the 17th and started the sheet rock work on their 6000 ft children’s area. We finished it in 3 days. Thursday we went and completed an individuals home by replacing sheet rock that had already been removed earlier. It was a wonderful week of seeing God at work with our team. As you already know we are a group of volunteers who are like minded in the body of Christ. We are all from different backgrounds with different talents who come together and form one of the best teams working together just like we’ve done this during our working career. I am so honored to be a part of this team.

Today we returned to to our homes after a 10 day deployment. We are tired and we miss our families but, what a blessing….for us. You always wonder who gets the biggest blessing the homeowner or the volunteer. Going out to serve is a basket full of mixed emotions. You can always think well I have this to do or that to do, but then, there is a tug at your heart and you know that there are people hurting and you need to go. I am so blessed that my wife is very willing for me to go because she knows that this is a desire of mine to help people. When you have support from home it makes it an even more special deployment. The Uvalde deployment was a special one because of the things that happened were numerous. The blessings that we received were great but, the blessings given to the ones which heard for the first time our loving Savior coming into their hearts and learning that He wants a personal relationship with them is greater. At night after dinner we have a debrief in which we call it “Where did you see God today”. We share what has happened and stories in which we can all share in. We have tears of joy and some tears of sadness by listening about the survivors situations. Our volunteers go above and beyond the call of the project at hand. They may do something for the survivor on the home which may not have been caused by the storm or whatever we are there for. Our volunteers were helping a family and the mother shared that the flood had destroyed all of the toys, clothing and school supplies that she had bought as the money became available. The volunteers acted upon a plan “LETS GO SHOPPING”. They went shopping and bought the needed toys, clothing and school supplies. The mother and grandmother was so appreciative of the volunteers going above and beyond muddying out the home. This is just but one of the many stories that we experienced. We are here to deliver help, hope, and healing.

Your fire and flood team is in Uvalde for 10 days. This has been a very rewarding deployment. Yesterday we had 2 salvations and one rededication. This area has seen a lot of destruction during the floods. Water is still flowing across some city streets. I will post more as we continue.

Today, Saturday, May 2, First Baptist Church Marble Falls hosted the Burnet-Llano Baptist association quarterly breakfast. Your Texans on Mission feeding team did the cooking. Robert Wheat the director of missions for Hill Country Baptist association spoke on how important Texans on Mission has been for Kerrville and the surrounding communities since the devastating floods of July 4, 2025.
