Tonight at Life Support ministry, Pastor Bounsa taught on “Why We Do What We Do,” emphasizing that our “why” must be bigger than our struggles.

Using 2 Corinthians 4:17 and the story of Joseph, he taught that our struggles, pain, and past do not have to define our future. God can use difficult seasons to prepare us for His purpose.

He challenged everyone to identify a meaningful “why” that will keep them moving forward when emotions, frustration, or difficult circumstances make them want to quit.

He also taught from Romans 12:2 that God is not simply calling us to change our behavior, but to experience true transformation through the renewing of our minds and hearts.

Recovery and growth are not just about following rules or avoiding consequences; they are about becoming the person God has called us to be.

Pastor Bounsa encouraged the group to remember that we do what we do because of who God is, who we are becoming, and because our transformation may become someone else’s hope.

He closed with this reminder:

“Don’t forget your why. Your why gives you strength for today, and your transformation gives someone else hope for tomorrow.”

At Life in Christ Church, one of our core values is that we love God’s Word.

Last night at LICC Discipleship Ministry, we continued Matthew Ch. 9, and XF Sher taught from tonight’s passage.

We start to see a shift in Jesus’ teaching as the tension surrounding His ministry begins to grow. In the middle and later parts of His ministry, Jesus begins teaching more and more through mysteries—using metaphors and imagery to reveal spiritual wisdom and truths to those who truly desire to seek and understand them. Jesus’ teachings also became more personal as He prepared His disciples for His coming departure.

In last night’s passage, Jesus addressed the concern about fasting. He first alluded to Himself as the Bridegroom—the One whom John’s disciples had been fasting for. Then He addressed the reasons for fasting, as many Jews were fasting because of ceremonial practices rather than for spiritual reasons.

Jesus took this opportunity not only to address fasting, but also to reveal that God intended to do a new thing—to bring in a new covenant. Not to abolish the old, but to fulfill it and bring it to completion.

But the old and the new cannot simply be mixed together. They are incompatible. Trying to do so brings tension, complications, and challenges, and ultimately things can fall apart. To take hold of the new requires letting go of the old.

Jesus reveals this through the teaching of old wineskins and new wineskins.

Though Jesus was speaking about the old Jewish ways and the new thing He was bringing, we discussed how this applies to us today.

When we first receive Christ and accept this Christian life, we also experience a transition from the old to the new. Christ comes to do a new thing in you and me—in our habits, our lifestyles, our way of thinking, and our hearts.

There will be tension and challenges as we wrestle with and embrace the new life Christ has for us. At times, we may even try to mix the new He has for us with the old life we once knew. We may try to compromise and hold on to both, but eventually we realize that they are incompatible.

To truly experience the new life Christ has for you and me, it requires us to let go of the old life we used to live.

We are committed to raising disciples who don’t just attend church, but who understand Scripture, ask real questions, and grow in Christ.

So thankful for everyone who came last tonight. Let’s keep growing together!

Last night at Life Support Ministry, Fuekong shared a powerful message about the fruit of a changed life.

📖 Matthew 7:16 — “You will know them by their fruits.”

📖 Luke 6:43 — “For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.”

Fuekong shared that he’s made a lot of promises to people he loves, and unfortunately, he’s broken many of those promises. But now that he walks with Christ, instead of just making more promises, he wants to let the good fruit in his life do the talking.

He’s no longer the same person he used to be because Christ has changed his heart from the inside out. And because Christ has changed his heart, his life will bear good fruit.

What a powerful reminder that when Jesus truly changes our hearts, the evidence will show in the way we live.

At Life in Christ Church, one of our core values is that we love God’s Word.

Tonight at LICC Discipleship Ministry, XF Sher taught as we started Matthew Ch. 9.

In tonight’s passage, we come to see the growing tension between Jesus’ ministry and the Jewish leadership.

In the first few verses, Jesus doubles down on His authority as the Son of God—One who doesn’t just heal and do miracles, but also forgives people of their sins. He demonstrated this with the healing of the paralytic man who was brought to Him.

A lesson we can learn here comes from the people who brought this man to Jesus. It says that He saw their faith, and shortly after, He healed the man. It shows us that it wasn’t just the faith of the man, but also the faith of those around him. In the paralytic man’s circumstances, he was surrounded by people who loved him and believed for him. On his own, he could not have made it into the presence of Jesus—but those around him carried him and brought him there.

This helps and encourages us to also be mindful of the people we do life with and the people we build relationships with—friends, family, church, etc. We should desire godly relationships that push and encourage our faith and the faith of those around us. Pray for one another and come to Jesus together.

Then we covered the calling of Matthew as a disciple. We read on to when Jesus dined with him. It was here that the Jewish leaders again questioned Jesus and His ministry as He chose to have dinner with tax collectors and sinners.

Jesus revealed His heart, and at the same time, He revealed the hearts of the Jewish leaders. They were fixated on traditions, rituals, and sacrifices, and they saw themselves as righteous, separate, and above the rest. Jesus reminded them of the heart of it all—it is for the sick and the lost who need it most. To go to them and reach out to them—to desire and learn to have mercy, not sacrifice. Love, not condemnation.

And it challenges us as well. In all that we do, we have always been called to fulfill the Great Commission—loving others and leading them to Christ. No matter who they may be or what past they carry—bring them to Jesus.

We are committed to raising disciples who don’t just attend church, but who understand Scripture, ask real questions, and grow in Christ.

So thankful for everyone who came last night. Let’s keep growing.

Tonight at Life Support Ministry, we were blessed to hear a powerful message from Jasen about how God takes our brokenness, redeems our past, and writes a brand-new future. 🙌

Jasen shared from his own journey:

“I used to think my story was finished. I was living out of my car, stuck in addiction, and believing the lie that I could never change. But Jesus met me in my lowest place, took the pen out of the hands of my past, and gave me a fresh start.”

No matter what chapter you may be stuck in today—brokenness, guilt, addiction, or hopelessness—your story isn’t over. God is still the Ultimate Author! ❤️🙏

2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

As Jasen said tonight, “The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

So thankful for what God is doing through our Life Support Ministry and for Jasen sharing his testimony and reminding us that Jesus still changes lives!

At Life in Christ Church, one of our core values is that we love God’s Word.

Tonight at LICC Discipleship Ministry, XF Sher led us through Matthew chapter 8, and we had a great time learning, discussing, and growing together in God’s Word.

In tonight’s passage, we saw that there were many who desired to follow Jesus. Whatever their reasons may have been, Jesus made it clear that there is a cost to following Him.

Following Jesus may not always be glamorous, nor will it always come with recognition or praise. At times, it will be difficult, demanding, and uncomfortable.

The question is: Are we willing to pay the cost to follow Him?

And when we make that decision, we cannot continue to delay. If we have decided to follow Jesus, let’s follow Him now—not waiting or making excuses about the things we think we need to take care of first. When Jesus calls us to follow Him, our response should be obedience.

We then spent time discussing the different miracles Jesus performed throughout Matthew 8. Each one reveals something about who He truly is and the authority He possesses.

He who has the power to heal the l***r — He has authority over sickness and the body.

He who healed the centurion’s servant from a distance simply by His word — He has authority that is not limited by distance.

He who healed Peter’s mother-in-law as she lay sick with a fever — He has authority over sickness and the power to restore.

He who calmed the raging storm — He has authority over creation.

He whom even demons feared and obeyed — He has authority over the spiritual realm that we cannot see.

Who has the authority to do all these things? God.

And if Jesus possesses this kind of authority, Matthew 8 forces us to wrestle with the same question His disciples asked:

“Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?” — Matthew 8:27

The answer becomes increasingly clear: Jesus is the Son of God.
