This year’s Memorial Day service will be on May 27 at 2 pm. The sound will be broadcast outside if weather permits, so feel free to bring a lawn chair.

The annual meeting (no potluck) will be held at the Sterling Town Hall on June 12 at 6:30 pm.

Thank you to all those attended and helped with another wonderful Memorial Day service for 2022. If Covid has taught us anything it is to really appreciate being all together and sharing the honor and duty of honoring our veterans. Here is a link to the recorded program.

The annual Memorial Day service held at the Sterling Cemetery located just off highway 30 between Mapleton and Amboy, MN.

A friendly reminder to everyone: artificial flowers, vases, and all other grave decorations such solar lights, shepherd's hooks, hats, beer bottles and cans, small trinkets, etc. MUST be removed from gravesites by June 10th or they will be picked up and disposed of.

Even if a decoration doesn't seem to be in the way, ie sits on the stone or the base, items move. Windy conditions can easily change the original location of where these items were placed and it becomes not only a nuisance but a hazard to mowing equipment and/or others walking through the cemetery. (For instance, a shepherd's hook that has fallen over and is not easily seen in the grass.)

George Langworthy, who has been taking care of the cemetery for about 35 years(!), does a wonderful job of mowing and keeping up the cemetery all season long, not just Memorial Day weekend. So it is really helpful if these things are out of the way. Thank you!

This year's Memorial Day service will be on Monday, May 30, 2022 at 2 pm. Feel free to bring a lawn chair and sit outside to listen - weather permitting. Cookies and lemonade will be served afterwards.

The annual meeting of the Cemetery Improvement Association will take place on Wednesday, June 8 at 7 pm at the Sterling Town Hall.

For those that also care about the Sterling Town Hall, please be sure to mark your calendar and attend the Annual Town Hall Meeting on March 8, 2022 at 7 pm at the Amboy Fire Department. (please note location!) On the agenda will be a discussion about the future of the hall. The town board will be seeking input about upkeep, repairs, etc. Sterling Township, Blue Earth County, MN does have its own page. More information and details can be found there.

A belated thank you to all those who helped with this year's Memorial Day. It was wonderful that so many could be in attendance. Again we sincerely thank and recognize Carol Juergens for her 35 years playing the old pump organ. Please be patient as we work on getting a copy of the program on YouTube. There have been some glitches that we are working through.
