On my final Sunday before sabbatical, we hear Jesus’ promise: we are not alone. In the face of fear, struggle, and uncertainty, we don’t have to hold everything together. In the words of one theologian, “Don’t worry. You ain’t got this” – we don’t have this but in baptism, we belong to the One who does. Grounded in baptism and held in God’s presence, we are never on our own, even in life’s hardest moments.

In this Easter season, we hear Jesus’ words from Gospel of John in a fresh way: “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” Not just for times of grief, but for the middle of our everyday lives. We reflect on the deeper meaning of that promise—how Jesus speaks to all of us together as one shared heart, reminding us that fear does not get the final word. Grounded in scripture and story, we are invited to trust that we are seen by God, held in community, and never abandoned. Even in uncertainty, we are Easter people—called to live in joy, to lean on one another, and to trust that in Christ, we already know the way. Alleluia.
