We live in a world full of competing ways to live - ways to find meaning, be accepted, get ahead, make things right, and draw near to God.

But Hebrews points us to something radically better.

Superior by Design is going to take us on a journey through Hebrews to remind us that Jesus didn’t simply make the old way better. He brought us into something entirely new.

A better covenant.
A better hope.
A better sacrifice.
A better way of life.

And just like an architect begins with a blueprint, God had a greater design in mind all along. In Jesus, we see the fullness of that design - a better way to draw near to God and live by faith.

Because of Jesus, we don’t have to live by endless striving or religious performance. We can draw near to God with confidence, hold firmly to hope, encourage one another, endure faithfully, and fix our eyes on Jesus.

Over 9 weeks, we’ll explore what makes Jesus and the life He invites us into truly superior by design.

The better way has been designed. Now let’s learn to live it.

SERVE. 🙌

Jesus never called us to live a life centered around ourselves.

He showed us a different way.

A life that gives.
A life that serves.
A life that notices people.
A life that meets needs.
A life that makes a difference.

At UP Church, we believe serving is one of the ways we put our faith into action.

We SERVE the Church.

There is a place for every person to contribute. Whether it’s welcoming someone at the door, caring for children, leading worship, serving students, helping behind the scenes, setting up chairs, praying with someone, or using a unique gift God has given you - your contribution matters.

The Church isn’t something we simply attend.

It’s something we belong to and build together.

We SERVE our community.

Following Jesus means looking beyond the walls of our church and asking, “Who around me needs to experience the love of Jesus?”

Sometimes serving looks big.

Sometimes it looks incredibly ordinary.

A meal.
A helping hand.
A listening ear.
A generous gift.
A prayer.
An invitation.
Showing up when someone needs you.

When we serve, we step outside of ourselves and become the hands and feet of Jesus to the people around us.

We don’t serve because we have to earn God’s love.

We serve because we have already received it.

His love moves us outward.

So we give our time.
We give our gifts.
We give our resources.
We give our energy.
And ultimately, we give ourselves.

SERVE.

Serve the Church.
Serve your community.
Serve others before yourself.

Because a life transformed by Jesus is a life that becomes a blessing to others.

GROW. 🌱

Following Jesus isn’t about simply making a decision one day and staying the same forever.

It’s about becoming more like Him for the rest of our lives.

At UP Church, we believe spiritual growth happens when we intentionally pursue God by learning His Word, listening for His voice, worshiping together, and allowing Him to transform the way we think, live, and love.

We GROW through God’s Word.

The Bible teaches us who God is, who we are, and how we are called to live. We open it, study it, wrestle with it, learn from it, and allow it to shape us.

We GROW in community.

Faith was never meant to be lived alone. We worship together, build relationships, encourage one another, pray for one another, and walk through both the celebrations and challenges of life side by side.

That’s why small groups matter. They give us space to be known, ask questions, grow deeper, and experience the kind of community that helps us become who God created us to be.

We GROW through worship.

When we gather together as the Church, we lift our eyes beyond ourselves and remind one another of who God is. We celebrate what He has done, surrender what we’re carrying, and make room for Him to continue changing us.

Growth doesn’t happen overnight.

It happens one prayer.
One Scripture.
One conversation.
One Sunday.
One step of obedience at a time.

We don’t expect perfection. We pursue progress.

GROW.

Know His Word.
Pursue His presence.
Live in community.
Become more like Jesus.

This is the lifelong journey of following Him.

LOVE. 🤍

At UP Church, we believe following Jesus begins with love.

Jesus calls us to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength - to know Him, pursue Him, worship Him, and make Him the center of our lives.

We love the Father who created us.
We love Jesus who gave His life for us.
We welcome the Holy Spirit who lives and works within us.

And because we have experienced the overwhelming love of God, we are called to extend that love to others.

Jesus didn’t call us to love only the people who look like us, think like us, or love us back. He calls us to love our neighbors, our families, our friends, our coworkers, our communities, and even those who may be difficult to love.

Love puts others before ourselves.
It chooses compassion over judgment.
Grace over condemnation.
Generosity over selfishness.
Forgiveness over bitterness.
Presence over indifference.

We believe the Church should be a place where people encounter the love of Jesus not only through what we say, but through the way we live.

Because when we truly understand how deeply God loves us, His love begins to overflow from us into the lives of the people around us.

LOVE.

Love God.
Love Jesus.
Follow the Holy Spirit.
Love people.

This is where our life with Jesus begins.

This morning, we dared to dream. 💭

As we dove into the story of Nehemiah, we were reminded that God often places dreams and desires in our hearts that are far bigger than what we could accomplish on our own.

Nehemiah saw the broken walls of Jerusalem and allowed God to turn what was ruined into a God-sized dream. His story encouraged us to recognize the dreams God has placed before us, trust Him with the process, and have the courage to pursue what He is calling us to do.

Sometimes a God-given dream looks like moving to a new town, stepping into a new career, growing your family, starting something new, helping people in need, building a stronger community, or simply being willing to go wherever God leads. Sometimes the dream feels exciting, and sometimes it feels impossible. But when God is the one who gives the dream, we can trust Him to lead us through the process of bringing it to life.

So, what might God be inviting you to dream about? What dream has He placed on your heart that feels bigger than you?

We’re so grateful for the way our UP Church family worshiped, connected, and dared to dream together this morning.

We were never meant to carry everything on our own.

Self-sufficiency tells us to work harder, try harder, and figure it out ourselves. But prayer reminds us that we have a God who is able to work in ways we never could.

When we pray, we’re choosing dependence over striving. We’re trusting that God can make a difference in our circumstances and that His power is available to those who call on Him.

Answered prayer isn’t coincidence. It’s God’s power at work.

So whatever you’re facing today, bring it to Him. Pray. Ask. Give thanks. And trust the God who works when we pray.

This Sunday, Pastor Jason will share a message titled “Prayer Works!” as we look at Exodus 17:8–16 and the powerful story of Moses, Aaron, and Hur during Israel’s battle with the Amalekites. This passage reminds us of the power of prayer, the importance of perseverance, and the strength that comes when we rely on God. Join us as we discover what it means to keep praying, keep trusting, and believe that prayer works!

We’d love to worship with you this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. - come as you are and bring a friend!

This week, Pastor Jason Nelson wrapped up our summer sermon series, “Jesus Said WHAT?”, as we continued through the Sermon on the Mount. In his message, he reminded us of the abundant life Jesus offers to those who choose the narrow gate.

The abundant life is more than we could ever imagine - a life marked by the fullness of salvation through Jesus and an overflowing relationship with God, inviting His presence into every part of our lives.

Join us this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for worship and a message from Pastor Jason on the importance of prayer - because prayer works.

Come worship with us, hear from God’s Word, and discover what it looks like to live a life fully dependent on Him. We’d love to see you there!

Following Jesus changes the way we live.

We LOVE because He first loved us. We love God, Son, and Holy Spirit - and we are called to love others, putting their needs before our own and reflecting the heart of Jesus wherever we go.

We GROW because following Jesus is a lifelong journey. We grow as we open God’s Word, learn more about who He is, worship alongside other believers, and build meaningful relationships in community and small groups. We don’t grow alone.

We SERVE because God’s love was never meant to stop with us. We serve within the church, invest in our community, and look for opportunities to meet the needs of those around us. When we serve, we move beyond ourselves and become the hands and feet of Jesus.

Love. Grow. Serve.

Three simple words that shape the way we follow Jesus - and three invitations to live out our faith every day.

We’d love for you to join us this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. as we worship together, open God’s Word, and grow as a community of believers.

Come as you are. There’s a place for you here.
