East Union Cemetery has been voted the 2026 Readers’ Choice Winner, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who voted for us and continues to support this special place. ❤️
What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that East Union Cemetery is 100% run by volunteers.
There is no big staff working behind the scenes. Our volunteers give their time, energy, and often a whole lot of sweat to keep this cemetery operating and cared for. From obtaining the necessary licenses and permits, handling paperwork and coordinating services, to digging graves, maintaining the grounds, making repairs, cleaning, landscaping, and preserving the cemetery ... it is all done by people who simply care.
They do this because East Union Cemetery is more than a cemetery. It is part of our community's history. It is the final resting place of generations of our neighbors and loved ones, and every family deserves to know that the place where their loved one rests will be treated with dignity and respect.
So while this award may say “Readers’ Choice,” we think it really belongs to every volunteer who has shown up with a shovel, a mower, a stack of paperwork, or simply a willingness to help.
Thank you to our volunteers. Thank you to our families. And thank you to our community for recognizing the love and dedication that goes into caring for East Union Cemetery.
