Manteca Presbyterian Church

Manteca Presbyterian Church Manteca Presbyterian Church is a Christian church in the heart of Manteca. We are a community of people that seek to live as faithful disciples of Jesus..

We strive to be a caring church, committed to Christ through prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship and outreach. Our Church exists to be a family to the city of Manteca. We offer hospitality and acceptance of all people no matter who they are. We also believe that the power of God will not leave people as they are, but transform those who seek forgiveness into redeemed people who share their faith through word and action to glorify Jesus and magnify his name in all the earth!

As the Pastor of Manteca Presbyterian Church, I am sorry to say that our church is closing. Our last service was on June 5th which was appropriate as it was Pentecost. This holiday of Israel which was much like our Thanksgiving yet became more important for the new church which God began through his Son, Jesus. The apostles and all followers were given the Holy Spirit, the third person in the Holy Trinity, and then sent out to the world. In that respect, our congregation is no longer together but being sent elsewhere to serve God. We are grateful for the 30 years we had in Manteca, growing together, bidding farewell to many friends and welcoming new friends into our fold. But now it is time to move on to other church families. Thank you for all the wonderful memories in Manteca. Sharon Miller, CRE

On Nov. 28th, Advent begins which is the season in which we prepare our hearts and spirits for the coming of the new King. At Manteca Presbyterian Church, during the four Sundays of Advent, we will be studying the songs sung before during and after the birth of Jesus. It is our "Songs of Advent" series. We hope you will join us either in person or through our website where you'll find the videos for each Sunday's service. These videos are posted within in a couple of days of that Sunday. We will continue our tradition of lighting the Advent Candles for each Sunday: Hope, Joy, Peace, Love. The Christ Candle in the center will be lit on Christmas Eve.

It's Thanksgiving next week! How did that happen so fast? Did you know that the Jewish people have a celebration for their time of harvest? It's not called Thanksgiving but do you know what it is called? Shavuot (shu-oat) meaning weeks because it occurs 50 days after Passover. In the NT, the Greek word is Pentecost. So if you're a Christian you know that as a completely different event. But Shavuot was more than just a celebration of the harvest; it also was a reminder of how the Hebrews came to the area and became a nation. And isn't that what our Thanksgiving is as well: the Pilgrims coming to the New World, suffering many hardships their first winter, then with the help of the natives, they persevered and had a harvest the next year. We've come a long way since then and God has been with us at all times. So be thankful, realizing from where our blessings come. Happy Thanksgiving!

Soo... we got a bit busy at church, which is a good thing, but it means we didn't keep up with our posts. For the last six or seven weeks our sermon series has been:

Be Encouraged and United in Love: Colossians 2:2

We explored many ways in which God encourages us and how we can encourage one another. Go to our website and click on the YouTube icon to find all the sermons during this series.

We are now on a new series: Holy Ground - Joshua 5:5. Come in person (10 AM) or watch through our website by clicking on this picture.

Today was the end of our summer series on "Paul - He Gets Around". It was great hearing from so many of his letters showing how great a teacher and preacher he was and is. Paul still reaches us today. You can go to our website, click on the YouTube icon and go to just about any Sunday for one of our sermons from one of his letters. Unfortunately, today we had some laptop issues and were not able to get the video on our website. But I can tell you the scripture which RE Karen Keene based her message on: Romans 5:1-5. Next week we start our new series - "Be Encouraged, United in Love". The message will be based on Matt. 6:25-34 and is called "Don't Worry, Lean on God". We hope you'll join us in person. Hopefully our laptop issues will be resolved and we can upload a new video. See you next Sunday.
