The Warning
Peter writes in the Bible to remind this world of men about the consequences of the depravity of God’s holy and righteous way and will. Even when angels sin, they are not exempt from the judgment of the just God. Peter shares that God did not spare the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them in chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment. God did not spare the world of the ungodly during Noah’s life. Only eight people were saved from God’s devastating judgment with the flood that covered even the highest mountains on the earth. Peter next turns our attention to S***m and Gomorrah where fire and brimstone fell on the two cities and all inhabitants remaining were destroyed. The scriptures relate only Lot and his two daughters escaped. Lot’s wife disobeyed turning her heart and lusted after her home and lifestyle, and she was turned into a pillar of salt.

Peter shares these three incidents as examples of what is coming for those that live ungodly.

The Redemption
But God is merciful, and He planned before the foundation of the earth to redeem man from his immoral heart through His son, Jesus Christ. God’s immense love made a way to resolve the corruption and change man’s heart. God so loved man that He did not spare His own Son but delivered him up for us all. Jesus Christ took our judgment and our death. Our penalty of debasement toward God was forgiven. The word of God says that through our substitute, the Father God was able to justify all that would come to the Lord Jesus and partake of His death, His burial, and His resurrection unto newness of life by the power of God as He changed the degenerate heart to a holy and righteous heart.

If you have sinned in the past in your life and even now living a life of sin, trust in the Lord Jesus by believing that he who knew no sin became sin on your behalf in order to pay for the penalty of your sin so that you might become acceptable and welcomed by God in your faith in Christ Jesus. Faith in Jesus is the only way to be saved and made to be a new creation where old things have passed away; behold all things have become new. Now you certainly can live a proper and right life with God for all eternity.

God’s goodness
After the fall of man in the garden of Eden, God showed His mercy toward man.
Gen 3:22 – God said – remove the man from access to the tree of life lest he eat and live forever, so God sent him out from the garden of Eden. God was protecting man from eating of the tree of life and living in the state of sin forever. God had redemptive plans for man to change him from the state of sin to the state of being righteous again and protected him from the everlasting state of sin.
Gen 3:23 - Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
Gen 3:24 - So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
God protected man and would not allow man to get in a place where he unchangeable, like the devil.
Authority on the earth
The devil deceived man and man sinned and lost his original, spotless, and pure relationship with God. The devil usurped the authority given to man and set up the kingdom of darkness with the fallen angels and unsaved, unchanged sinful man.
The Usurped means to seize or occupy and enjoy by violence without the legal right.
Remember the earth and all it contains belongs to God, and even though the devil set up his kingdom of darkness, God still reigns sovereign. God loved man and desired to restore him to the proper relationship that was lost at the garden fall. Man could not restore or reconcile himself, so God did it by sending His Son, Jesus as a man, as the expiatory sacrifice. 1Co 15:21-22 - 21 ‘For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.’ Jesus came as a man, on behalf of all men, abiding in the Father with His Father’s authority and power and sacrificed Himself and satisfied and executed the judgement and broke the curse of sin. Upon the finished work of Jesus, the righteous Father could now justify sinners. All who believe Jesus accomplished this reconciliation with God are born of God becoming a new creation. Now the greater authority and power of Jesus Christ flows through the believing one even as the authority and power of the Father flowed through Jesus when he came to the earth as a man.
The tree of life that was withheld from fallen man is now available in Jesus Christ. He who believes in Jesus receives eternal life for our Christ is the way, the truth, and the life.
