The real Jesus doesn’t just excuse sin—He rescues sinners.”

Culture loves the idea of a “non-judgmental Jesus.” A version of Jesus who never challenges, never calls out sin, and simply approves of whatever we choose.

But when we actually read Scripture, we see something deeper.

Jesus is perfectly loving… and perfectly holy.

When the woman caught in adultery stood before Him, Jesus didn’t condemn her the way the hypocrites wanted to.
But He also didn’t ignore her sin.
He told her, “Go and leave your life of sin.”

Grace and truth.
Mercy and holiness.
Both at the same time.

We see the same heart in the story of the prodigal son. When the son turned and came home, the father ran to meet him, embraced him, and restored him.

That’s the gospel.

Jesus doesn’t redefine sin so we can feel comfortable.
He forgives repentant sinners and transforms their lives.

The real Jesus isn’t indifferent to sin.
But He’s also not waiting to crush you.

He’s the Savior who rescues, restores, and changes hearts.

So the question Jesus still asks today is the same one He asked His disciples:

“Who do you say that I am?”

This week we talked about a version of Jesus many people don’t even realize they’re following: Personal Genie Jesus.
The Jesus we treat like a vending machine.
Like prayer is “add to cart.”

Like His job is to make life easy and say yes to everything we want.

But here’s the problem:
If Jesus is only valuable when He gives you what you want… then you don’t actually love Jesus — you love what He gives.
We looked at Gospel of Mark 9:14–29 and the desperate father who said, “I do believe; help my unbelief!”

That’s not genie faith.
That’s real faith.

Real faith says:
“Jesus, I don’t understand everything… but I’m coming to You anyway.”

Jesus didn’t call us to convenient belief.

He called us to follow Him.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 we’re told to “pray constantly.”

Prayer isn’t a transaction:
It’s relationship.
Dependence.
Surrender.

And when prayer becomes relationship, you start realizing something powerful.

Jesus is better than what you wanted.
Then we went back to Gospel of Mark 1:16–20, where fishermen dropped everything immediately to follow Him. No negotiation.

No delay.
All in.

So the question we ended with was simple:
Who do you say Jesus is?
And not just with your words… but with your life?
He’s not clay to be shaped.
He’s not a genie to be used.
He is Messiah.
He is Savior.
He is King.
And He’s still saying:
“Follow Me.”
