We are pleased to announce Rev. Guo will be our new minister. His first Sunday will be July 2nd. Join us in worship to welcome him and his family.
Rev. Joseph Guo
Bro. Joseph Guo was born and raised in
Canton, south China. In 1993 I came to Ruston,
Louisiana for graduate study majoring in Chemical
Engineering at Louisiana Tech University. In
February 1994 I accepted Christ Jesus as personal
Savior and Lord of my life, and was baptized into
the faith. After receiving a Master’s Degree (1996)
in Chemical Engineering, I worked in engineering
industry with a design and consulting firm in
Oklahoma City (1997-2000), where I became a
disciple of Jesus and served as lay leader for 3 years
at First United Methodist Church in Edmond,
Oklahoma.
In 2000 I responded to the call of God and
began the new journey in full-time ministry by
attending seminary for theological training. In May 2004 I received a Master of Divinity
degree from Candler School of Theology (Emory University in Atlanta, GA), and in June
2004 I was commissioned to full-time ministry.
From 2004-2014 I served as Associate Minister to Asian Chinese at Trinity UMC
in Ruston. In June 2008 I was ordained as Full Elder in Louisiana Conference. From
2008-2012, through the dual appointment I served as the pastor at Eros UMC and
Antioch UMC in Eros, LA. From 2013-2015, I served as Assistant Chaplain at the
Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston. From 2014-2018, I served as the Pastor at Dubach
UMC and Harmony Chapel UMC in Dubach. From 2018-2022 I served as the Pastor at
Fellowship UMC, Bossier City. During the pandemic, by the grace of God, through the
faith and perseverance of our congregation, Fellowship UMC overcame multiple
challenges and continued to thrive. From 2022 – present, I serve at the pastor at Nolley
Memorial UMC and Belah UMC in Jena, LA.
My wife Annie and I have been married since 2002. Annie is an enthusiastic
servant of the Lord and my partner in ministry. She received two business degrees from
Louisiana Tech University. Since 2016, Annie has been working as chief accountant at
Shreveport Housing Authority in Shreveport. Annie is a great cook and takes good care
of the family. We have two beautiful daughters; Priscilla (19 years old) is attending
Business school at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. Joanna (14 years old) is a
freshman at Caddo Magnet High School in Shreveport. Both girls are talented in music
and art. Occasionally they serve our churches with the gifts of music. Bro. Joseph loves
reading, gardening and fishing; he is devoted to sharing the gospel of Christ with people,
learning to speak more southern English and make new friends.
My family looks forward to joining y’all in ministry and serving the living Lord Jesus.
We like to get to know all of you and see what great things God has in store for us.
