Sunday Recap | May 31, 2026 | So What's With the Attitude?

This Sunday, Pastor Mike Bratten continued through the Sermon on the Mount by exploring the Beatitudes in Matthew 5.

What does it mean to be blessed?

Jesus points us toward attitudes that reflect dependence on God: humility, mercy, purity, peacemaking, righteousness, and a heart that seeks Him above all else.

Throughout the message, Pastor Mike reminded us that while we don't always get to choose our circumstances, we do get to choose our attitude.

Prayer, time in God's Word, and a growing dependence on Him help shape our hearts to become more like Christ.

"We don't always get to choose our circumstances, but we always get to choose our attitude."

📖 Matthew 5:1–10
📖 Matthew 6:9–13
📖 Philippians 2:5–8

MIDWEEK MEDITATION | Wednesday

Open God’s Word like unfolding a familiar map to find the way home. God’s Word points to the Lord, who wants people drawn closer than ever, like a shepherd calling sheep into safety. May the truth from Scripture move hearts nearer to Him; He already knows every step of the road ahead, and the task is simple: surrender and let His hand lead.

When Jesus started the Sermon on the Mount, He talked about attitudes. Feelings and thoughts come that are beyond our control, but attitude is a choice. Followers of Christ receive opposition because many people won’t understand the life He calls us to. The call is to follow a holy God who made people in His image and knows every heart. It’s not easy, and it often looks nothing like the crowd.

Too many today wouldn’t recognize Jesus if He walked in because they’ve built up ideas of God instead of knowing the God revealed in Scripture. Put down those make-believe gods and look to the true Maker who holds every life in His hands.

Don’t let worry take over. Life brings hardships, bring your burdens first to the Lord and ask for help. He promised to carry them. One day this age will end, and only what’s been lived and done for Christ will last.

đź“– Romans 12:2

Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, butlet God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

📖 Hebrews 12:1–2

Therefore since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the rase God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.

đź“– James 1:22

But don't just listen to God's Word. You must do what it says. Otherwise you are only fooling yourselves.

Reflection Questions:

1. What one attitude could be changed this week to better reflect the heart of Christ?

2. What single worry or burden will be brought to the Lord today and handed over in prayer?

3. One way to keep in step with the Spirit is to ask, “What can I do for You, to please You, to obey You, to honor You, Lord, at this very moment?” Offer the present moment to God.

Sunday Recap | May 24, 2026 | Listening to the Heart of God

This Sunday marked Pastor Mike Bratten’s first weekend with Mosaic as interim pastor.

Teaching from Matthew 5–7, Pastor Mike walked the church through the Sermon on the Mount and reminded us that Jesus begins with the heart.

The message focused on trusting God with what weighs on us, following the narrow way, and not simply hearing God’s Word—but living it.

“I’m not sure that God could even win His own lookalike contest.”

Pastor Mike challenged the church to know God as He truly is through Scripture rather than building our understanding of Him through opinions, emotions, culture, or personal reasoning.

One of the central reminders from the morning was simple:

“God’s got this.”

The service also reflected on Memorial Day and the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for the freedom of others—ultimately pointing to Christ, who laid down His life so we could be free from sin.

Sunday Recap | May 17, 2026 | Finding Honey in the Lion

This Sunday, Pastor Jeff taught from Judges 14 and the story of Samson encountering the roaring lion on the road to Timnah.

What first appeared to be a threat eventually became a place of provision.

Later, when Samson returned to the lion’s carcass, he found honey inside it.

Through this passage, Pastor Jeff reminded us that many of the lions we face in life like fear, grief, addiction, disappointment, uncertainty, sickness, worry, and seasons of change. These do not look like blessings when they first appear. But through the power of the Holy Spirit, God can bring sweetness out of painful situations.

“There is always honey in the lion.”

The message continually pointed the church back to the faithfulness of Christ through every season of change, reminding us that the Holy Spirit remains present, active, and trustworthy in every transition we face.

Pastor Jeff encouraged the church to:
• rely on faith
• call on the Holy Spirit
• rest in Christ
• trust God through change
• and share the hope and encouragement we receive with others

MIDWEEK MEDITATION | Wednesday

When you enter the church, do not leave your garbage at the door—bring it in and lay it in the lap of Jesus so you may be set free.

Own your sin, doubt, grief, and pride. Follow Jesus wherever He leads, and let Scripture be pressed so deeply into your heart that your desire to know God and make Him known overflows from you.

We are imperfect, but because of His steadfast dedication to us, we are secure in His arms.

In suffering, remember what those before us have gone through—Mary and Joseph, Paul, Daniel. Confusion and doubt may surface and cause us to ask, “Lord, do You have a place for us?”

In Christ, the answer is always yes.

Delays and uncertainty can be mercies that slow us to prayer, to sit with a brother or sister, and to let God guide us step by step.

Love God with your whole strength. Let His commands give you wisdom.

Perseverance reveals what in us is not yet Christlike, and rather than resisting the refining pain, trust that God is doing deeper work.

The Scriptures were written for people who suffered, and across the ages the church sings to the Lamb—trust that the Lord who began His work in you will bring it to completion.

Jesus loves the church wholly; as each of us is cleansed, the body is cleansed.

When shameful things surface, be glad—they show where the dross must be skimmed away.

Encourage one another with Scripture, love one another despite one another, and let love grow in knowledge and discernment so you can do what is best.

May you be filled with the glory of Jesus Christ; live in a manner worthy of the gospel, grateful that it has been granted to you both to believe and to suffer for Him, as God continues perfecting His Son’s bride.

“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”

Sunday Recap | May 10, 2026 | Philippians 1

This Sunday marked Pastor Tony and Sherri’s final service at Mosaic.

Through Philippians 1, we were reminded that God is faithful to complete the work He begins—not only in us individually, but in His church collectively.

As Pastor Tony reflected on the beginning of Mosaic and the years that followed, he reminded us that the Christian life is one of continual transformation. God uses perseverance, suffering, forgiveness, love, and even seasons of change to shape His people into the likeness of Christ.

Sunday also carried a powerful picture of that faithfulness through Mother’s Day and child dedication.

Through Deuteronomy 6, families were reminded of the calling to impress the Word of God upon the next generation—to speak of His faithfulness in everyday life and to raise children rooted in the love and truth of Christ.

What began years ago in prayer continues forward through generations being discipled, loved, and formed in the gospel.

Pastor Tony encouraged the church to continue living in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ—loving one another well, remaining rooted in truth, and walking faithfully together as the body of Christ.

And in one final encouragement to Mosaic, he reminded us:

“If there is anything good about me, it’s not me—it’s Him in me.”

đź“– Philippians 1
📖 Deuteronomy 6:4–9
đź“– James 1

Thank you, Pastor Tony and Sherri, for your years of faithfulness, sacrifice, teaching, worship, leadership, and love for the body of Christ.
