Last Sunday we read Matthew 9:9-13 where Matthew, a tax collector, is asked to follow Jesus and does so without hesitation. Jesus ate dinner with tax collectors and sinners - groups of people who were hated in their day. These people needed God's mercy more than the righteous! We are called to do the same - to love and care for those at the margins of our society

This past Sunday we can together to celebrate Pentecost, one of the most amazing events in the early church. There, people were brought to faith when they heard the Good News of God in their own language! This provides a roadmap for us today- if we are to reach out to those in need, we need to meet them where they are, and make our faith more accessible to them. As we have said, God's doors are open to all!
