The Knights have our monthly meeting this Thursday, starting with a potluck at 6:30pm and the meeting at 7pm. If you’re a current Knight we plan to see you there! If you are interested in becoming a Knight then stop by and join us to see what we are about!

Are you being called to switch lines?

From Our Pastor, Fr. Henry:

This image carries a powerful message for us as a parish, especially as we continue striving to become a community of disciples.

It is easy to stand in the line of criticism. It is easy to gossip about what is wrong, what should change, or what someone else should be doing. Those lines are always crowded.

But Jesus does not call us simply to observe His Church. He calls us to become disciples who take part in her mission.

The lines become much shorter when it is time to get involved, encourage someone, serve, sacrifice, or lend a helping hand. Yet that is exactly where discipleship begins.

At St. Joseph, we will never be a perfect parish. We are a family of imperfect people following a perfect Savior. But imagine what God can do when each of us stops asking, “Why doesn’t somebody do something?” and begins asking, “Lord, what are You asking me to do?”

Our parish does not belong only to the priest, the staff, or ministry leaders. This is our spiritual home, and each of us has a part in its mission.

So today, perhaps we should ask ourselves:

Which line am I standing in?

May we choose the line that leads us closer to Christ—the line of service, encouragement, generosity, and discipleship.

St. Joseph, pray for us and help us become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

The Knights of Columbus Manor Council #14674 are honored to recognize the Rios family as our Knights Family of the Month for the month of September!

The Rios’ are active parishioners at St. Joseph’s. Johnny serves as the Chancellor and Evangelization & Faith Director for our council, an acolyte, lector, and leader of Ignite. His wife Vanessa is also a leader in Ignite and serves as a sacristan. Their two young children bring a smile to everyone’s faces.

Family is the heart of our faith and community, and we are blessed to celebrate this milestone together. Just as we gather around the Lord’s table at Mass, we are reminded that strong families, rooted in faith, are the foundation of a strong Church.

📖 “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15

We thank God for the witness of this family and for all families striving to live out their faith, serve their parish, and walk together in Christ. May this recognition inspire us all to grow closer to God and one another.

BAND OF BROTHERS | We Will Serve the Lord

Meet the Knights: Ernest Rodriguez - Financial Secretary

1) Why did you become a Knight and for how long have you been a member?

When the kids were in Catholic school, long before I became Catholic, I always noticed the Knights at church events. I was intrigued with the bond they had with each other and their commitment to the church. I find that same bond here at St. Joseph’s only it’s greater than I could have imagined. I liken it to joining the military. I wanted to be part of something greater than myself. I have been a Knight for almost 2 years now.

2) What do you love most about being a Knight?

What I love most about being a Knight is the closeness of the brotherhood. I know that if I were in need of anything my Knight brothers would be there to extend a helping hand.

3) What is your favorite Bible quote or who is your favorite saint?

My favorite scripture is Luke 15:11-31; the story of the prodigal son. We all have strayed away from the Lord at times. It could be an hour, a day, a month, or years. But, no matter how long we’re away He will always welcome us back with open arms and celebrate our return.

4) What are your favorite interests and hobbies outside of attending church?

My interest outside of the church are the grandkids. They keep me young. I also play tennis once a week. I just retired from playing basketball and I golf. Most of all I just want to stay active.

Band of Brothers – All Men Are Invited!

Looking to grow in your faith or have questions about what Catholics believe?

Join the Band of Brothers, a men’s faith formation group hosted by the Knights of Columbus.

🕗 8:00–9:30 AM
📍 St. Joseph – Manor

Each session will focus on learning and defending the Catholic faith with answers rooted in Sacred Scripture, Church history, and the teachings of the Church Fathers. Whether you’re a lifelong Catholic, someone exploring the faith, or simply curious about what the Catholic Church believes, you’re welcome.

You do not need to:
• Be Catholic
• Be a member of St. Joseph Parish
• Be a Knight of Columbus

This is open to all men from Manor and the surrounding communities.

Come for fellowship, ask questions, strengthen your faith, and discover why the Catholic Church has faithfully handed on the teachings of Christ for over 2,000 years.
