Hey praying friends!
Please consider taking a mini Sabbath to stop, rest in, delight in
and contemplate the Lord. (Scazzero)

Again this week, we will consider the truth of God's purpose in creating us and the responses due to Him. Scripture is clear that God created those who are called by His name for the purpose of bringing glory to Him. (Isaiah 43:7) To glorify God is to acknowledge Him for who He is and what He has done.

How do we glorify God in our day to day lives? The following are a few more examples provided by one author:
1. Obey God's promptings to give to others (2 Cor 8:19 & 9:13)
2. Discover and use our spiritual gifts to help others (1 Peter 4:11)
3. Do the good works that God enables us to do (Matt 5:16)
4. Suffer for righteousness (1 Peter 2:12 & 4:16)

In our time with the Lord, may we be blessed to understand more and more the magnitude of the glory of God, and may this understanding lead us to put these things into practice in order to bring Him glory!!

Hey praying friends!
A promise that Jesus spoke as He was describing the signs of the
end of the age is found in Matthew 24:12-13, where He warned:
"'Because of the increase in wickedness, the love of most will grow
cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.'"

"This does not suggest that our perseverance secures our salvation.
Scripture everywhere teaches precisely the opposite: God, as a
part of His saving work, secures our perseverance. True believers
'through faith are shielded by God's power until...salvation' (1 Pe 1:5). ... Scripture sometimes calls us to hold fast to our faith (Heb
10:2; Rev 3:11) or warns us against falling away (Heb 10:26-29). ... the warnings and pleas are among the means that God uses to secure our perseverance in the faith." (NIV footnote)

In our time with the Lord, may we pray for the enablement to throw
off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and
run with perseverance the race marked out for us by fixing our eyes
on Jesus the author and perfector of our faith!! (Hebrews 12:1-2)

This week and in the weeks to come, we will consider various truths of God and/or our response to Him.

Scripture is clear that God created those who are called by His name for the purpose of bringing glory to Him. (Isaiah 43:7) One
author say "to glorify God is to simply affirm the perfections of His
revealed character."

How do we "affirm His perfections"/glorify God in our day to day
lives? Here are a few examples provided by one author:
1. Confess our sins and tell the truth (Joshua 7:19)
2. To take time to thank God for His blessings (Luke 17:15-18)
3. Believe God to fulfill His promises (Ps 145:13; 2 Cor 1:20)

In our time with the Lord, may we be blessed to understand more and more the magnitude of the glory of God, and may this understanding lead us to put these things into practice in order to bring Him glory!!

Hey praying friends!
Paul quotes an OT promise near the end of a list of what active
Christian love is and does (Romans 12:9-21). Before and after the promise, he instructs: "Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave
room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will
repay,' says the Lord. On the contrary: 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. ...'" (vs 19-20)

In our time with the Lord, may we cry out for the love that He has
poured into our hearts (Rom 5:5) to flow freely out of us!! Jesus
said: "'A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have
loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know
that you are my disciples, if you love one another.'" (John 13:34-35)

The final attribute of God that we will consider is that of His wisdom.

An amazing testimony of God's wisdom is declared by Paul with these words: "but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block
to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God
has called, both Jews and Greeks [Gentiles], Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God." (1 Cor 1:23-24)

"God wisely established that men could not come to know Him by
human wisdom. That would exalt man, so God designed to save
helpless sinners through the preaching of a message that was so
simple the 'worldly wise' deemed it nonsense." To those God has
called, He has given the ability to acknowledge and accept Jesus
as the power of God who forgives sins. As the wisdom of God,
Jesus is God's mastery of the problem of sin. (NIV footnotes)

In our time with the Lord, may we be blessed to understand more and more the magnitude of God's wisdom, and may this understanding lead us to praise and worship Him!!

Hey praying friends!
At the end of Psalm 91, the Lord gives six promises to those who
love Him and acknowledge His name: "'Because he holds fast to
me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows
my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him
in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life, I will
satisfy him and show him my salvation.'" (vs 14-16, ESV)

In our time with the Lord, may we thank and praise Him for these and all of the promises we cling to day after day which sustain us
on this journey!! May we also confess and repent for falling short of not loving the Lord with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength,
and may we cry out for the Holy Spirit's enablement to desire and have a deeper intimacy with the Lord and to hold fast to Him all of our days!!
