We want to extend a sincere thank you to the Friends of the Boy in Blue Civil War Memorial for their dedication and generosity in helping honor 15 Civil War soldiers at Glenwood Cemetery with newly placed grave markers for previously unmarked graves.

These veterans served their country more than 160 years ago, and because of this effort, their names and service will now be permanently recognized and remembered for generations to come.

The dedication ceremony was a meaningful reminder of the importance of preserving local history and ensuring that those who served are never forgotten. We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved in researching, funding, organizing, and placing these markers.

Thank you for helping restore dignity, recognition, and remembrance to these soldiers’ final resting places.

Glenwood Cemetery has been working on plans to clean up and restore the ravine. These old stone structures have been there for years, and we’ve heard it may have once been a spillway or even a small waterfall?
Has anyone heard this, or have any photos or stories to share?

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Veterans 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor the over 250 veterans laid to rest at Glenwood Cemetery who served our country with courage and devotion.

Their service spans generations — from the Civil War and Spanish-American War to World Wars I & II, Korea, and Vietnam. Each stone tells a story of sacrifice, bravery, and love of country.

As we walk among their graves, we are reminded that freedom is never free. We are deeply grateful for every life that stood in defense of it.

🕊️ Thank you to all who have served — and to those who continue to serve — this Veterans Day and every day.

🌿 Honoring Our Heroes 🌿

Did you know Glenwood Cemetery is the final resting place of over 150 Civil War veterans?
These men served in units like the 2nd Minnesota Infantry, the 1st Minnesota Heavy Artillery, and the 4th Minnesota Infantry.

Their stories range from Colonels and Captains to musicians and infantrymen. Some lived long lives into their 90s, while others never returned home from war. One soldier was even tragically killed by a bull years after his service.

We invite you to explore their names and stories here:
