Berean Fellowship

Berean Fellowship We are a Bible believing church that adheres to the word of God. We preach expositorily and that Jesus Christ was born, died and rose from the dead.

Berean Fellowship Statement of faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God inerrant in the original writings (2 Tim. 3:16, 17). We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7, Deut. 6:4). We believe that God the Father has provided the way unto salvation in the atoning death and resurrection of t

he Son of God the Lord Jesus Christ as the only way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the expressed “image of the invisible God” (Col 1:15). He is to be worshiped, praised and adored, along with the Father and Holy Spirit, not only for what He has done, but for who He is; the Son of God and God the Son (Rev. 5:8-9). We believe Jesus Christ was both fully human and fully God (Phil 2:5-8), Heb. 4:15). He was born of a virgin (Matt. 1:18); led a sinless life (2 Cor. 5:21); performed many miracles (John 10:38); was rejected by men, and therefore man rejected the Father, and the forgiveness His father offered (John 3:18); He suffered a vicarious and atoning death (Matt. 1:21), which was cruel and horrible by crucifixion on a cross, and therefore, became the great sacrifice of God “to take away the sins of the world.” (John 1:29); was bodily resurrected (Mark 16:6); and ascended to the right hand of the Father until His personal return in power and glory (Mark 14:62). We believe then in the atoning sacrifice that God offered through His Son, having taken our place of wrath paying the full price that God demands of us all, escaping His wrath through repentance and faith (2 Cor. 5:21). We believe in the personal ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life (1 John 5:13; Gal. 5:22) in holiness and righteousness (Luke 1:75). Sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men because all sinned. (Rom. 3:12) Death reigned from the time of Adam (Rom. 3:23).
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”(Rom. 3:23). The wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23), and will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of His power. (2 Thess. 1:9)
We believe in a Heaven and Hell whereby man has a choice as to His salvation (Luke 10:20; Mark 9:46). We believe that the lost and sinful man must be saved, to deliver him, her from condemnation, and that man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Col. 1:27; Eph. 1:7). We believe in the sanctity of marriage as between one man and one woman as God created it to be, “and they shall become one flesh”(Gen. 2:24). We believe in the spiritual birth of all who come by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, "You must be born again" (John 3:16). We believe "there is no other name under heaven," "that by the name of Jesus Christ," "given among men by which we must be saved"(Acts 4:10, 12) from hellfire.
“If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord”, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved”(Rom. 10:9) “For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved”(Rom 10:13). We believe in a personal relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ the Son of the living God (John 3:16). We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (John 17:20, 21). We believe that the Lord will come for His church (1 Thess. 4:16-17), and "we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye (1 Cor. 15:51-52). We believe in the “Great White Throne” judgment of God when anyone not found written in the “Book of life” will be cast into the lake of fire, and suffer eternal damnation (Rev. 20:11-15)
What is our mission? It is our mission to become equipped with the word of God in order that we may “contend earnestly for the faith”(Jude 3) in the gospel of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; be able to stand against all sin and temptation; and “be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Eph. 6:11). To accomplish the above mission then is to learn and know the truth of God’s word, through personal study and expository preaching by the elder(s)/pastor(s)/teacher(s) of all the 66 books of the Bible, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, the whole counsel of God. It then becomes the mission of this body to fulfill the great commission of Matt. 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,” by the encouragement and support of spreading the good news not only of those about us, but in foreign lands as well.

“The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low and He saved me”(Ps 118:6). “But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance”(Rom. 8:25). What is our hope but the Lord’s return for His bride the church. In the meantime He is preparing a place for us. “In My Father’s house there are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again to receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” What this all means then is our deliverance from the presence of this sin filled world, and stand in His presence where there is no sin. That is our hope. We do not have to see it. His word says it and if you believe that He is coming then you have hope. Hope is to expect, to confide in. It is the hope we have in Christ of His soon return. Are you looking to it; would you be ashamed at His coming? 1 John 3:2-3, “Beloved, now we are children of God and it has not been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” Luke 21:28b, “Look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” Amen!

“Gracious is the Lord and righteous; Yes our God is merciful”(Ps 116:5). “Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body”(Rom. 8:23). “We in Christ “have the firstfruits of the Spirit.” We are blessed with salvation and forgiveness of our sins, being made righteous by the blood of the Lamb, our Lord Jesus Christ. And consider the fruits of the Spirit, “love, joy, peace, long suffering, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, self control, and gentleness”(Gal. 5:22). We have it all in Christ. But besides creation itself groaning and laboring with pain, “even we ourselves groan within ourselves,”as to the evil that is gripping the world big time. Violent crime is on the increase, shootings, murders, rapes, pe******ia, LGBTQ, censoring of speech, government misuse of power, etc. are on the increase. There is less respect for each other in the world, and for other people’s property. There is the breakdown of family, what the enemy intends, when the family structure goes, so goes the nation, and we see this happening with America. 2 Tim. 3:1, “But know this, that in the last days, perilous times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. 2 Tim. 4:3, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires.” If you, as a believer in Christ Jesus are not groaning from within as if with labors and pain, grieving within, over the way things are going, then your heart is not right with the Lord. Are you not “eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.” Be blessed in the Lord.

“For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now”(Rom. 8:22). “The whole creation groans and labors.” This is not only speaking of the earth, the changes we are most familiar with, but all of the universe. Stars actually go through a life cycle of their own. So this groaning and laboring is not only limited to the earth. But with this groaning and laboring, think of earthquakes which can bring much destruction. The good that comes out of this shaking, is that uplift occurs and eventually a mountain is built. But God uses earthquakes in judgment (Ez 38:19). But all this groaning and laboring with “birth pangs” is because of sin, God put a curse on everything, as it says the “whole creation.” Sickness, disease, death, suffering, calamities we face in life, etc. are all because of sin. And we are all guilty of sin. We are not sinners because we have sinned. No we are sinners because that is our inheritance from the first man Adam. It is called original sin. And the sound of a tornado cannot even match the groaning and laboring that sin causes in life. But that laboring has one main purpose but for man to seek the Creator, to know Him, and bring us through all this calamity. Throughout the book of Ezekiel, when God brought punishment, not only upon His people, but other nations as well, because of all this, “They shall know that I am the LOED”(Ezek. 6:7), and this is mentioned 73 times in Ezekiel. “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse”(Rom. 1:20). Be blessed in the Lord.

“But we will bless the Lord from this time forth and forevermore”(Ps 115:18). “For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope”(Rom. 8:20). When Adam and Eve sinned, ate of the forbidden fruit, God had to curse everything even the earth itself, and the universe as well. This is the meaning of the word creation, it refers to all of God’s creation, both living as well as material. The word “subject” means to come down under, or be obedient to. Thus, because of sin, creation itself became subject to futility. The KJ uses the word vanity for futility, which means morally depraved. The word “vanity” in Webster means empty, in vain, worthless. It all speaks of breaking down, decay, violence, moral decay, sin and death. Most animal life suffers a violent death. In part we can say that for humans as well. And then there are earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, violent weather storms, tornadoes, and hurricanes, with the end worthless destruction and death. But in all this “not willingly,” creation suffers the consequences of sin. And the why of it all is “because of Him who subjected it in hope.” “In hope that the creation itself also will be set free”(v. 21)(NAS). Amen!

“His work is honorable and glorious, and His righteousness endures forever”(Ps 111:3). “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then those who are in the flesh cannot please God”(Rom. 8:7-8). The “carnal mind” is our past life, it is the mindset that we believers once possessed and lived by. “The carnal mind is enmity against God.” I was an enmity of God and did not know it. This is the condition of the world, enemies of God. “For it is not subject to the law of God.” To help explain this part of this verse, I will quote from the NAS. “Because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God, for it does not subject (submit) itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so”(NAS). What this verse is saying then, we had no power to live up to the law, nor even submit ourselves to it. Yet how many are deceived into thinking that they are living up to the law, that in trying to live up to law, even though failing in their own efforts, believing this is acceptable to a Holy and righteous God. The only one who kept the whole law is Christ Himself, which made Him acceptable for the blood sacrifice that God required for the forgiveness of sin. “So then those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace”(v. 6). Amen!

“The fool has said in his heart, there is no God”(Ps. 14:1). After again looking, reading, and preaching of the word, the evidence is overwhelming of the Risen Lord. And to all who deny the truth of it all, Paul has an answer in Rom. 1:22, “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.” The word “fool” in the O.T. means stupid, wicked, are the words used. The fool in Roman is the word simpleton, which means fool. What God did in raising His Son to life, in my simple thinking was the greatest act way above His creation. It brought everything together, fulfilling His promise “the opening of the prison to those who were bound,” set free, forgiven, redeemed. “He’s alive, and I’m forgiven, heavens gates are open wide,” Don Francisco. “He’s alive” is the title of his song. The second song that was our favorite is the one by Dallas Holmes, “Rise Again,”. 2 Cor. 9:15, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.” Amen!
