Meadow Lawn Cemetery Grave Decoration Removal

Recently an article was placed in the Manito Review by the Meadow Lawn Cemetery regarding grave decorations. The management of the Meadow Lawn Cemetery would like to remind the public that any and all decorations and other items that are on the ground around the grave sites must be removed by October 1. Items not removed by that date will be removed and disposed of by the Cemetery.

In order to properly maintain the grounds, the Meadow Lawn Cemetery has had a long-standing policy of "nothing on the ground during mowing season". In recent years, we have been fairly lenient in this policy, wanting to be respectful of grieving families who want to honor the deceased. However, due to the increasing costs of the maintenance of the cemetery, we have found it necessary to better enforce this policy. The following rules will apply to all graves located in the cemetery, particularly during mowing season:

1. Nothing is to be on the ground around the headstones and footstones. This would include shepherd hooks, flowers, flags, statues and other items.
2. All flowers, memorials or other items must be secured to the stones.
3. No shepherd hooks may be on the ground
4. No benches may be on the ground
5. No live plants, trees, shrubs or the like may be planted on the ground
6. Grave markers need to be made by reputable monument companies, and must be fastened to a foundation.
7. All above ground foot stones must be installed at least 60" from the base of the headstone.

Notice is hereby being given that all items on the ground must be removed from the cemetery by November 1st. Any items remaining after that date will be removed. For more details, please refer to our page, entitled Meadow Lawn Cemetery. Questions may be referred to Scott Nickerson at (309)968-7628 or Barry Spraggs (309)338-6299.
