AWANA at SLMC

AWANA at SLMC Here is your stop for the latest happenings for AWANA at Spring Lake Missionary Church!

What We Believe

THE BIBLE
We believe the Bible to be the supernaturally, Holy Spirit inspired, inerrant, authoritative Word of God. GOD
We believe in one God that eternally exists and reveals Himself in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that God, by His sovereign choice and out of love for men, sent Christ into the world to save sinners. GOD THE SON
We believe that Jesus Ch

rist was fully God and fully man, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed mighty miracles, was crucified and died to pay the penalty for our sins, was raised bodily from the dead on the third day, that 40 days later He ascended to God the Father, and that He is coming again in power and glory. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Person, is God and has a present ministry of indwelling the believer to conform him to the image of Christ. MAN
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but that in Adam’s sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature and became alienated from God. We believe that of himself, man is utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. SALVATION
We believe that salvation is a gift of God and is received by man through personal faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for sin. THE CHURCH
As God's kingdom lighthouse and the representative hands, feet, and voice of Jesus Christ, the local church is commissioned for worship, fellowship, evangelism, discipleship, and exercising spiritual disciplines and gifts within the community of Christ followers. THE CHRISTIAN LIFE
We believe that a disciple of Christ should walk in holiness and not after the flesh, with the goal of being conformed to the image of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. THE SECOND COMING
We believe that Jesus Christ, according to His promise, will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness.

It is with heavy heart that I let you know we will not have AWANA again this week.
If you are available, we will meet at the Church on Wednesday night at 6:30 to prepare for the visitation and funeral of our dear friend.

Once again we will have to cancel our AWANA meeting for the week.
No school for Midwest Central means no club for the day!

Tonight's AWANA will be cancelled due to the weather. Icy roads and cold temps.....

These two pictures are approximately 100 years apart and show a major business improvement occurring in 1908! Cement sidewalks! The 1983 Manito History book quotes the Manito Express that the village had caught the fever of installing cement walks in 1908. All the buildings from the alley (center of picture) to Broadway (at left edge) were destroyed by fire overnight on Sunday May 10, 1914. The newspapers stated that many people hadn't even known the fire happened until getting up the next morning.
Look at the restaurant sign. I like to imagine the reaction of whoever painted the sign as he finished his work, stepped back to take a look and realized that he had left the "o" out of "Manito." He obviously covered his mistake by painting a much smaller "o" in the small space available. Apparently this sign became something special as later pictures show the sign on a restaurant near Broadway and State.

Although consolidation had already occurred, this class was called "Manito Grade 3." This group of eager scholars became the graduating Class of 1964. How many do you know without looking up the names? I was surprised how many I knew. My brother is in the picture and I recognized almost all of his friends even though a few of them moved away before graduation. Count how many you know before you look!
