Isaiah 41

Your Life Without Fear

10 Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

“Fear not.” Is a command that occurs over 100 times in the Bible.

…Tom said, “Though I could feel the tornado pulling the house down all around us, I was not afraid because I felt the presence of God surrounding us.”

…Ellen said, “When the doctor said she didn’t think she could save my baby, I started to panic. But suddenly I felt a warm feeling pour over me like a blanket and I knew it was God wrapping His arms around me. At that moment I knew both my child and I would be fine.”

The world is full of sin, pain, sadness, suffering, and loss.

And there are times when we will experience all of those things in our lives. But when we do, we have the full assurance that we have nothing to fear because when we are in Christ, we have the power of the Almighty to overcome anything that comes our way.

Nothing on earth lasts forever — except our decision for Christ. Once we’ve made Him our Savior, we can live without fear… forever!

We Have a Wonderful Creator

30 Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so.

Have you ever swatted a mosquito off your arm or shooed a fly off your picnic table?

If so, you’ve probably thought or said something to the effect of, “I don’t know why God needed to make these pesky things. I’m pretty sure we’d be able to get along just fine without them.”

Just as God created everything we consider pesky for a specific and unique purpose, He also created everything needed to sustain each and every living element of His creation. He left nothing to chance. He left nothing undone.

He gave the animals everything they need to sustain life and to make the planet a robust, thriving ecosystem.

God continually blesses us. He has done even more for us than He has for simple creatures. Every little creature lives its life according to God’s purpose. Can we say the same?

What Are Three Things That Give You Joy Today?

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Numerous scientific studies have demonstrated that people who show gratitude tend to be healthier, have more positive emotions, deal with adversity better, and have stronger relationships than those who don’t.

That is why finding the silver lining to every cloud can be a two-fold blessing. One, you’re not helping your mind be wired for negativity and two, you’re helping your body be healthier and stronger physically and mentally.

Paul’s own life was an example of the advice in today’s verse.

Even when whipped 39 times and placed in stocks, he still sang hymns of praise and thanksgiving to God. Even when stoned and left for dead, by God’s power in his life, he continued to minister to those in need.

God wants you to have joy in life: in the good and the bad.

He wants you to talk with Him, to receive His power, and to rejoice. God wants you to have gratitude for all the experiences He puts you through, knowing that if you knew the end product, you would be more than willing to go through those trials. And God wants to be there for you every step of the way.

So today, rejoice in all things, pray without stopping, and be grateful for all things!

Your Ticket has Been Purchased

7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

Corrie Ten Boom was once asked how she survived the horrible experiences of being a prisoner in a concentration camp during World War II.

She answered that when she was a little girl, her father never gave her the ticket she needed to ride on the train with the rest of her family until the very moment she had to hand it to the steward in order to board.

He didn’t give it to her in advance because he was concerned she might lose it.

She continued, saying, “God doesn’t give us the grace we need until we’re about to step onboard. If He did, we might use it up or lose it before we get to the place where we really need it. But I can assure you that if you ever go through something like I did in the concentration camp, God’s grace will be there to help you make it through the dark valleys, to keep your head held high and your heart filled with love.”

No matter what you are facing now or what lies ahead in your future, you can be sure God will give you the ticket of grace He purchased for you through the giving of His Son, Jesus, on the cross.

Psalm 7

Do You Want to be Happy?

17 I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness,
And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.

A man said to a beggar one day, “Good day my friend.”

The beggar answered, “Well, thank you, but I never have a bad one.”

The man responded, “Well, may God give you a happy life, my friend.”

And the beggar replied, “I thank God that I am never unhappy.”

The man was speechless. And the beggar continued, “When I have plenty to eat, I thank God. When I am hungry, I thank God. If it is God’s will for me to endure this, then whatever is God’s will for me makes me happy.”

He chose to be happy.

Happiness is a choice. What do you want? Do you want to be happy? Then choose to be happy today no matter your circumstances …by praising God!

Great Faith Gives Great Courage

5 Out of my distress I called on the Lord;
the Lord answered me and set me free.

What would you do if you were kidnapped?

Nine-year-old Willie Myrick knows: trust God. On March 31, 2014, Willie was playing in the driveway of his Atlanta home, when a stranger in a car offered him money.

The stranger grabbed Willie and pulled him into the car. For three hours his kidnapper drove. For three hours Willie sang. The stranger cursed him. Willie kept praising God. Finally, the kidnapper, annoyed, convicted perhaps, let Willie out and drove away.

Do you need courage? Start with faith. Take your first step and give your dark circumstance to God. Call on Him in faith and He will grow great faith in you!

The Root Cause

5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Have you ever wondered how a tomato plant can provide so many delicious tomatoes, or why there are so many fragrant roses on one bush?

It is because the branches holding the tomatoes or roses are connected to the main vine of the plant, which is the offshoot of the plant’s root system. All the nutrients gathered from the soil and sunshine transfer to the actual tomato or roses by travelling from this main vine to all the offshoots.

If the branches weren’t securely attached, there would be no fruit or flowers for us to enjoy.

Like flowers and fruit must remain attached to their roots, we must remain firmly connected to Jesus through prayer and through His words of promise and instruction. In doing so, our life is a reflection of the ‘plant’ from which we stem — God, our Maker and Master, and Jesus our Savior.

When you remain firmly attached to Him, He supplies your every need, doing everything to make you overflow with fruit and joy. His loving grace and blessings will spill over you so that you can’t help but share them with others too!
