The Feast of Corpus Christi is held on June 4th following the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. In most dioceses in the United States it is celebrated on the Sunday following so that more faithful can participate. A procession follows the Mass which focuses on the visual presence of the Eucharist.

The Feast of Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, is a Catholic celebration of the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist—and thus a sacred reminder that, in every Mass, Jesus’ one sacrifice of Calvary is sacramentally made present and offered anew for “the forgiveness of the sins we daily commit” (CCC 1366).

While Holy Thursday recalls Christ’s institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper, Corpus Christi gives Catholics a joyful opportunity to honor our Eucharistic Lord Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. This includes public devotion apart from Mass.

Congratulations to our Brother Knight, Kevin Roberts, on his installation as the 64th State Deputy of the Kansas Knights of Columbus. The installation took place this weekend at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut, the birthplace of the Knights of Columbus.

Kevin will officially assume the role in July. We wish him every success as he begins this new chapter of leadership and service to the Knights in Kansas.

Knights of Columbus leaders from around the world have gathered in New Haven, Connecticut, for the annual Organizational Meeting of State Deputies, held June 4-7, to unite in prayer and prepare for the upcoming fraternal year.

On Friday morning, June 5, Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly conferred medals of office on 33 newly elected state deputies at the conclusion of Mass at St. Mary’s Church, the birthplace of the Order. Supreme Chaplain Archbishop William Lori of Baltimore was the principal celebrant, with more than 35 state chaplains concelebrating.

Following the installation, the supreme knight and supreme chaplain addressed the state deputies and chaplains during a luncheon, commending them for their accomplishments over the past year and outlining goals for the year ahead. Last year, the Order welcomed more than 101,000 new Knights — the most since the end of World War I, the supreme knight said.

“People often ask me … how are you doing that?” Supreme Knight Kelly said. “The answer, really, is that we’re meeting the moment that we’re in right now, in our culture, in our society. … We’re giving young men a sense of meaning and a sense of coherence and a sense of purpose.”

“This is a powerful moment for the Knights of Columbus,” the supreme knight continued. “We are uniquely positioned to help young men put their faith into action, together with their friends. I think the Lord is opening a door for us at this point, in our culture’s history and in the history of the Knights of Columbus, and now it’s our job to seize the moment and move forward together.”

Msgr Luckey Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus held a Memorial Day Service May 25th at the burial site of Msgr Arthur J. Luckey. Msgr Luckey served as pastor of Seven Dolors Church from the 1920's until his death in the 1950's.

Msgr Luckey did much for the Manhattan community and was a key person in the charter of the Seven Dolor KofC Council 1832 and the Msgr Luckey Assembly 0288. A quiet man, it is fitting to keep him in our thoughts and prayers.
