First Congregational UCC Manhattan KS God is still speaking. No matter who you are, or where you on on life's journey, you're welcome here. Join us Sunday at 10:45 a.m. central for worship.

In-person or online. Bulletin and Zoom link at uccmanhattan.org/online. Although our faith is 2,000 years old, our thinking is not. We extend extravagant hospitality, acceptance, and affirmation to reflect God’s inclusive love. We seek vitality in worship, learning, and advocacy. We are committed to working for justice from a global perspective. Believing in God's continuing testament, we are committed to hearing God's ancient story anew and afresh in our lives in today’s world. We hold religion and science to be compatible; therefore, both your head and your heart are welcome in our church. If you feel confused or disagreeable about anything we've posted here, we encourage you to reach out directly to our office so we can be in dialogue. We recognize that there are limitations to the types of conversation that can happen effectively via social media and we strive to make this a space that is loving and affirming.

Interested in service-oriented work that helps you build knowledge and skills to better serve your Manhattan community? You are in luck, Be the Neighbor (a group you may recognize as one we work with for trips with our youth) is hosting a Justice 101 trip in Kansas City! There are many ways this trip can happen, from weeklong service trips this summer to a weekend or day trip between now and April. We will have a meeting during fellowship November 1st to gauge interest and share general information. If you have specific questions or are interested but can’t make the meeting, please contact Jess Hemmer!

Join us on Sunday, Nov. 15th immediately after worship for our November Congregational Meeting. The meeting will be held in the sanctuary and you can attend remotely via Zoom by staying in the same Zoom room that we use for worship (http://www.uccmanhattan.org/online). All are welcome to attend and members will also be invited to vote. We will be previewing the 2027 budget and approving the slate of officers for 2027.

Our congregation is a part of the Kansas-Oklahoma Conference of the United Church of Christ. Every fall, the KO Conference gathers together for our annual meeting to learn together, share fellowship, and take care of important conference business. All authorized ministers in the conference are required to attend and each congregation is also able to send lay delegates. This year’s annual meeting will be held November 6-7 at Fellowship Congregational UCC in Tulsa, OK. We invite you to pray for the delegates and keep up with the ministry of the conference by signing up for the KO newsletter at kocucc.org.

Do you have a compassionate heart? Are you looking for ways to serve? Perhaps you are being called to serve as a Minister of Care.

The Ministers of Care provide care and encourage the wider congregation to provide care for those in our congregation who are unable to regularly make it to worship, are in need of additional connection and support, or are going through a major life transition.

When we become aware that someone is in need of additional support, we will ensure that they have a point person from the Ministers of Care. That person may visit in person, call on the phone, send notes, or otherwise check in to see what this person might need. When it seems appropriate they will also expand the circle of care by inviting others in the congregation to show support in whatever way needed (notes, visits, prayers, meals, etc.).

Ministers of Care are able to choose when and how they provide care, making it an excellent option for those who need a flexible volunteer schedule. The group meets quarterly for mutual support.
