On Sunday, we looked at how we can trade our anxieties for peace. Prayer is the exchange point, where we trade our anxiety for peace. Peace guards you, not your circumstances.
Tell God your burdens, what is on your heart, and let go of it, release it.

We read through Genesis 22 when God told Abram to go and sacrifice his son. Even though God didn't actually have Abram sacrifice his son, we see a glimpse of Christ. Just as God had to sacrifice his one and only son, Abram was asked to do so also. Just as Jesus had to carry his own cross, Isaac carried the wood that Abram would burn him with. In the end we see God does provide a ram, a replacement for Isaac, just as Christ is a replacement for us since he has died for our sins.

Since we were reconciled through Christ and are called to live as Christ lived, we are called the same mission and to share it with him. In Matthew 28:18-20 we see the Great Commission; we are called to spread the word to all the nations. Our purpose on earth, as Christians, is not necessarily an assignment because we are worthy, rather it is union with Christ that our purpose flows from.

Yesterday we talked about how when we believe in Christ, once we take that first step, we are in Christ. We may feel distant, we may forget about him, we might push him away because of sin or guilt, but even during those times we don't lose our title "in Christ". He does not abandon us when we push away or when we are struggling. His love for us does not change, he loves us just the same in all our situations and tribulations. Pastor Logan used the analogy of marriage. Marriage is a covenant, sometimes it is hard and sometimes it is easy to be connected and in good communication with your spouse, but no matter if you've had a rough day or a good day, you are still married to them and are still one. This is the same with our relationship in Christ.

Contentment is gained when we realize that Christ IS enough. That contentment produces in us generosity towards other, which is worship to God. God will meet the needs of those who trust in him.
