"Daniel trusted God’s word. We don’t get visions like those Daniel received, but we get a steady diet of God’s word every Sunday. The enemy has lots of ways to attack us, but his favorite is to distract us from the means of grace. To get us out of the habits of regular worship, Bible study and prayer. Don’t give him a victory. Recognize the enemy, and put into practice what undermines his devices." https://youtu.be/Lo7rEIE4IxU

"Nothing on earth can measure up to what that man, and every man, woman and child who trusts Jesus Christ alone with their life, has waiting. The suffering of God’s people should break our hearts, but at the same time it should steel our faith. God’s kingdom has come, and it is coming. He (and we) will win."

"When I was a child, we used to sing a song in Sunday School: “Dare to be a Daniel; dare to stand alone. Dare to find a purpose firm; dare to make it known." The song is not wrong, but it doesn’t give us the full picture. We aren’t rescued because we have courage like Daniel. In fact, many of us can’t imagine doing what Daniel did in that same situation. But we aren’t rescued because we’re like Daniel. We’re rescued because what Jesus did for Daniel he has done for everyone who trusts in his sacrifice and deliverance for us. It’s not my courage that matters in the final analysis. It’s his. Thank goodness it does. Because that’s the source of our hope."

"Daniel placed his unequivocal trust in the God who had allowed the exile. He recognized that God had judged his people for their idolatry, and he turned his heart toward the true God and placed his life in his hands. It's very much like what the apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:8-9: “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ.” Everything is husks and ashes next to a living relationship with God through Christ. This is true for ourselves and for the people who are in our lives: family, co-workers, classmates, neighbors. That’s what matters most."

"God is the Great Rescuer. He is the reason that those who bear God’s image, not just in their bodies but stamped on their hearts, will never finally bow before the image of man. One day we will bow before the throne of Jesus Christ, with every earthly ruler of every age. What a day that will be. Hallelujah! Even so come, Lord Jesus."

"God’s kingdom is forever. It started small, like a mustard seed, but it will grow to fill the earth. Paul said that Jesus “must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.” John said in Revelation 11:15, “The kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.” Until our final hope is fully unveiled, let’s ask God for the grace to live in these two kingdoms for his glory and the good of this world until the one Jesus is preparing is ready for us. Even so come, Lord Jesus."

"We do have a sovereign God in the heavens. Unlike the gods Isaiah described, which had to be carried from place to place and worshipped, our God, Isaiah said, lives with those who are humble and contrite. And, ultimately, that God came and dwelled with people. John 1:14 said he made a tabernacle, a place of worship, with people in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Wisdom of God. He is the Word of God become human. He came to earth and didn’t just know the future, he changed the future. He bridged the gap between God and man. And we don’t have to live in the dark anymore. Trust him. Praise him with your lips and with your life. Don’t be satisfied with mere spirituality. Live for the God who gives us ultimate security."

"Daniel 1 reminds us that there is a God in heaven, and he is working in every aspect of our world and in every aspect of our lives. If you don’t know him, get to know him. Because without him life isn’t life at all. If you do know him, trust him with your life. You’ll never regret it."

"What Paul said in 2 Corinthians 9 really holds true: in living generously, we promote our own interests. He who loses his life will save it. We model Christ himself, who the writer of Hebrews says “for the joy set before him” endured the cross. Living generously gives us incredible joy because we are doing what we were made to do: investing in the lives of others, pouring ourselves and our resources out for our brothers and sisters in the family of God and in the human family. We’re leveraging earthly possessions to produce fruit that will last long after this earth is gone. What could be better than that?”
