Great weekend for the Shortsville Fireman’s Carnival! The Youth Group walked the parade and handed out flyers and candy and ran the Root Beer Float booth. First time in a long time that we actually sold out!

Did you know that only 1% of the world’s refugees are re-located to the USA?
Did you know it can take up to a decade for a refugee to be sent to the USA?
Did you know the government only gives refugees $1,250 to resettle and approximately $900 of that goes to their first month’s rent? Then they need furniture, clothing, kitchen supplies & food just to get started.
Did you know that refugees go thru a 20-step vetting process which includes several background checks and fingerprintings before they can enter the US?
“The Center” in Utica, NY picks up refugees from the airport and provides them with all they need to get started, including assistance with job searches, learning English, assistance with paperwork for healthcare, etc.
Many of the friends we have met from Tabernacle Baptist Church have a direct connection to “The Center” & places like it, making this mission close to the hearts of many attendees .

Our goal was $9,000. The teenagers of ABY raised $11,700!!!!!!!

PS- thank you to all who supported our group throughout the year thru general donations and Root Beer float booths. We were able to donate $1,000 & took home the 3rd place bear and movie party for fundraising.
