This week we kick off our new 5-week sermon series, "Last Days Church." For the sake of clarity, this series is not intended to be a robustly focused teaching on eschatology (end times events and predictions), rather it is ecclesiological (the act and being of the Church) in nature. If we are in the last days, then who is the Church to be during these challenging yet opportunistic times? Throughout this series, we will discuss issues such as, what is the Church's role and response to a changing culture? How do we know what is essential to our faith, and what should be held loosely as cultural? How are we to live--both personally and corporately--in a way that honors Christ and others and acts as salt and light to the world around us?

This introduction message looks at Peter's words of exhortation and encouragement to the Church (2 Peter 3) as the foundation for this series.

Wrapping up our sermon series, "In the Healer's Steps," we celebrate with a VICTORY SUNDAY service. This Sunday we will hear from some special guest speakers who share their miraculous healing testimonies. Afterward, we will "follow the Healer" through a time of healing prayer. It's a call to not only be hearers of the Word, but doers (James 1:22)! Let's get equipped as we turn our eyes to the one true Healer, Jesus the Christ, who is ministering in our midst.

We would be remiss if we did not talk about the Holy Spirit's role in healing ministry. In our teaching series, "In the Healer's Steps," much of our attention has been on the various aspects of Jesus' ongoing healing ministry. But to this point we have not directly addressed how we, who are here on earth, join Jesus who is ascended and is there in heaven at the Father's right hand? The Holy Spirit resolves this issue. We must look at the role, fruit, and gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as the importance of being filled with the Spirit to better understand how we might share in Jesus' ongoing healing ministry. In our final session of this current sermon series, we give the Holy Spirit His proper due!
Let's cry out, "Come, Holy Spirit," as we worship together this Sunday at 10am. See you there!

Healing ministry can be very messy and that is why a lot of believers avoid it. It quickly confronts us with mystery. And we often don't like mystery! We like things that we can figure out, categorize, reason, and explain. But part of what it means to follow the Healer means coming to terms that His ways are higher than our own... BUT He can be trusted! As we learn to become comfortable with mystery in healing ministry, we need to address several topics such as the relationship between the atonement and physical healing, as well as asking honestly what the role of faith plays in this mysterious ministry.

The Kingdom of God was the central theme in the preaching of Jesus. Jesus brings the Kingdom of God to us! In His earthly ministry He INAUGURATED the Kingdom, but at present it is not fully CONSUMMATED. What does that mean? And what does that, then, mean for healing ministry?
Have you ever wondered why some people are healed and others are seemingly not? How can we as participants in Jesus's ongoing healing ministry minister with faithful expectancy and yet still come to terms with ambiguities and limitations associated with healing ministry?

We are fearfully and wonderfully made. In fact, unlike any other part of God's creation, human beings bear His image. We are uniquely created in the image of God and therefore, it is an important aspect as we continue to examine Jesus' ongoing healing ministry. As we consider this topic, we must keep at the forefront of our minds that Jesus embodies the image of God for us. He is THE perfect model of human personhood that God originally intended for us. But what exactly is the image of God? And why does this matter when it comes to healing ministry? Find out this Sunday at 10:00am!

In our current teaching series, "In the Healer's Steps," we now examine the five ways Jesus heals. Previously, we established WHY Jesus heals--because of His love--now we turn our attention to HOW Jesus heals. Let's search and explore the Scriptures together this Sunday at 10:00am.
