Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester

Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester Warm, welcoming home for progressive spiritual seekers who know that the future is in our hands to create.

Worship services, programs, education for children and adults, sermons, and more. The Unitarian Universalist Church of Manchester is a purposely inclusive church. You are welcome here regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or belief. As a member congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association, we affirm and promote seven basic principles, including a belief in the inherent worth an

d dignity of every person, a commitment to justice, equity and compassion in human relations and a firm devotion to every individual's right to engage in a free and responsible search for truth. We seek truth and meaning from many sources, including direct experience of that mystery and wonder affirmed in all traditions, Jewish and Christian teachings, humanist teachings, the traditions of the world's religions, and the ways of Earth-centered religions.

This year’s Ware Lecture at General Assembly will feature The Rt. Rev. Mariann Budde — Episcopal Bishop of Washington, D.C., and a nationally recognized voice for compassion, justice, and human dignity.

From speaking out in defense of immigrants and trans children to joining multifaith clergy resisting violence and fear, Bishop Budde’s ministry continues to speak powerfully to this moment. We are honored to welcome her as the 2026 Ware Lecturer.

Join us Saturday, June 20 at 8:00 p.m. EDT as UUs gather online and in person for one of the signature events of GA 2026.

The Ware Lecture is available exclusively to registered GA attendees and is not open to the public.

UUCM Board member Cyprus Hall and our office administrator Tess recently spoke at an Aldermen meeting at City Hall regarding Manchester's sidewalk infrastructure. Accessibility advocacy is important to our UU faith, and this was a great example of it in practice. Cyprus ended his public testimony with “A functional city needs safe sidewalks and crossings – needs disabled access. It is so fundamental and so basic and so obvious that it is shameful we haven't done more already. I know that we can do better.”

About half a dozen Manchester residents spoke at the the most recent meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to ask for better maintenance on city sidewalks.

Hello UUCM friends!

Summer is fast approaching and the sun and heat are already here. Last fall, we put together supply bags for the homeless folks in our area who occasionally stop by looking for food or clothes. We still have a handful of bags to give out, and with the hot sunny days coming up, we could really use sunblock to include in the bags! If you are able to donate small bottles of sun block or sunburn ointment, we can make sure each bag remaining gets at least a bottle! You can drop them off on Sundays or during the admin's office hours

Thanks,
Tess the Office Admin

"Let your curiosity be greater than your fear" -Pema Chödrön

We may fear what we do not know, and that is all the more reason to never stop learning. An open mind is a step to an open heart. Stay curious, friends.

Walpurgisnacht/Hexennacht

April 30th marks the Night of Witches, a holiday with a very long history of both celebration and mourning. To many, Walpurgisnacht marks a celebration of the history and culture of medieval witchcraft. To many, Hexennacht is a grim and bloody reminder of the women who faced violence and death in witch hunts that plagued Europe and the pre-US colonies. For us UUs, it’s important we recognize and welcome the pagan communities, as well as mourn the loss of the many thousands of women executed in witch hunts throughout history. No matter how you celebrate this night, never forget that your differences make you strong, and you are always welcome in the UUCM.
