Lord’s cause of “Moving the Kingdom Forward through Faith.” Through the power of the Holy Spirit of God and prayer, we can do all things through Christ’s strength. For those who have become or desire to become new creations in Christ, congratulations! For those who already call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord – and may be looking for a place to worship and/or a new church home to serve and worship the Lord Jesus and persist in His mission and vision, we ask you to pray and be led by the Spirit to join us by God’s divine providence. What I Want You To Know This Week

First Baptist family, what a fifth Sunday we shared. Our CREW ministry, Christians Ready, Equipped and Willing, led us in worship, and if you are between 18 and 40, you are already part of CREW. Come join us.

Here is what I want you to carry into this week.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 - FELLOWSHIP CRUISE, SOLD OUT
Ticket holders, be at First Baptist BEFORE 9:30 AM so your tickets can be passed out.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 - SUMMER COMMUNITY FESTIVAL
11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Harris Pavilion. Free food, fun and fellowship, and it is open to everyone. Invite friends, neighbors, people you just met. Bring a friend.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 - 2027 OFFICER NOMINATIONS CLOSE
Clerk, Assistant Clerk, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Financial Secretary and Assistant Financial Secretary. Forms are in the hallway, on the church website, and in the church email. Prayerfully consider it.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 - ANNUAL GOLF OUTING
Hosted by our Men's Ministry. 75 dollars per person, open to everyone. Details on the church website.

NOVEMBER 12 TO 14 - 33RD ANNUAL WOMEN'S FALL RETREAT
Ladies, register now, and watch for the Women's Prayer Breakfast too.

And join us for Bible study, Wednesdays at 7:00 PM and our young adult IGNITE study Thursdays at 7:30 PM, both on Zoom. Links are on the church website and in the church emails.

Early in-person voting runs September 18 through October 31, including weekend dates. Make your plan.

When God Gives You Grapes

On CREW Sunday we welcomed Rev. Rachel K. Baltimore to our pulpit, and she left us with one question worth carrying all week:

When God gives you grapes, will you see the grapes, or the giants?

From Numbers 13 and 14, she reminded us that twelve spies saw the same land and the same cluster of grapes, and only two saw God. Fear sees problems. Faith sees the problem solver.

What I Want You To Know This Week

First Baptist family, these are the things I lifted up from the pulpit this Sunday. I wanted you to have them close by all week long.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 - SOLD OUT
FBC Fellowship Cruise, Spirit of Washington. This one is sold out, and I am grateful you filled it. If you have already registered and paid, see Dr. Nixon for your tickets and your charter bus information.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12
Summer Community Festival, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Harris Pavilion. Here is your assignment. Find five people you don't know and encourage them to come. Then find five people in the First Baptist family and encourage them to show up.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13
Marshall D. Williams Award nominations close. Forms and box are in the hallway. Somebody in this church has been faithful for years and has never once been called by name, and I would like to change that.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17
Brunch Book Club returns, 11:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall. We are reading A Summer for the Books by Michelle Lindo-Rice.

NOVEMBER 12 TO 14
33rd Annual Women's Ministry Fall Retreat, Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Final payment due October 23. Limited scholarships are available through the Women's Ministry leaders. Do not let money be the reason you stay home.

And please check your voter registration, make a plan to vote early, and encourage five others to do the same.

Mark your calendar, make the call you have been meaning to make, and bring along the people God has placed in your life. There is a seat for every one of them.

FROM THE PASTOR'S PEN
It Is Well: The Settled Soul

This Sunday we welcomed Rev. Dr. Richard T. Davis, Sr. to our pulpit, and he left us with one question worth carrying all week:

"What would your life be like if everything around you no longer had the power to disturb everything within you?"

From Philippians 4:11-13 and Psalm 62:1-2, he reminded us that rest and reward are two different things. Reward waits for us at the end of the journey. Rest is what God intends for your soul while your heart is still beating.
