Resurrection Victory!

“Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” - Romans 4:25 (KJV)

By the Rev. Dr. Allen Church

The gospel missionary work of our JesusChrist2Day and National Clergy Council witness is founded on the truth of Christ and His victory over Satan, sin, and death. Resurrection Day (Easter) is a day set aside to remind us that every day, every moment is lived by the benefit of the resurrection of Jesus Christ applied to His people.

Romans 4:25 is probably the clearest statement in Scripture revealing the center action of the resurrection of Christ. On the cross Christ received divine wrath as punishment for our sin. The sinless Christ received the punishment due to the sinful (you and me). On the cross Christ shed His blood for our cleansing from sin that we receive forgiveness of sins. But then Christ died. If that was the end of the action, we would not have salvation. If Christ remained in the grave all the work of the cross for us would have died with Him. We would have been left in our sin/sins. But the gospel action continued. Christ was raised from the dead! He lives!

And the significance? He was raised for our justification. God provides through the resurrection the perfect righteousness we need to stand in His eternal favor: the perfect righteousness of Christ! Our righteousness alone is still imperfect and filled with sin. But the righteousness of Christ for us is sinless and acceptable to a perfectly holy and righteous God.

This fact is good news indeed. The resurrection of our Savior King Jesus Christ is God’s public revelation that Christ’s righteousness is accepted and counted, imputed to us. Jesus Christ has us covered. We have sweet victory in Him!

Happy Resurrection Day!
