Join Us for 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
January 11, 2026 – January 31, 2026
We invite you to join us for 21 days of prayer and fasting as a church family from January 11 through January 31, 2026. This sacred time is designed to help us seek God with greater focus, humility, and intentionality as we consecrate ourselves to Him together.
Rather than a continuous all-water fast for the full 21 days, we will follow a progressive fasting schedule that allows broad participation while still honoring spiritual discipline and obedience.
Fasting Schedule
Week 1
🕕 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Week 2
🕕 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Week 3
🕕 Monday – Thursday: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
🕕 Friday – Sunday: Continuous fast beginning Friday at 6:00 AM and ending Sunday at 12:00 PM
Biblical Fasting
Biblical fasting is a spiritual practice of abstaining from food for a period of time to seek God. It is often connected to prayer, repentance, humility, and spiritual renewal. Fasting temporarily restrains physical appetites to heighten spiritual sensitivity and dependence on God, remembering that only He can truly satisfy our deepest longings.
Why Do People Fast in the Bible?
People fast in Scripture for several reasons, including:
• To seek God – for guidance, clarity, repentance, or humility
• To express grief – mourning loss or distress
• To seek deliverance – protection, breakthrough, or freedom
• To overcome temptation – dedicating oneself more fully to God
• To minister to others – focusing attention on prayer and service
How Is Fasting Described in the Bible?
• In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word for fasting is tsom, meaning “to abstain from food.”
• In the New Testament, the Greek word nēsteuō also means “to abstain from eating.”
• In Matthew 6:16–18, Jesus instructs believers to fast with humility and discretion, focusing on God rather than public display.
How Can People Fast Today?
• Fasting may be complete or partial, depending on individual health, ability, and circumstances.
• Please consult a doctor before beginning an extended fast, especially if you have medical concerns.
• Fasting can also include abstaining from other “hungers” of the flesh, such as:
• Habits or addictions (for example, smoking or drinking)
• Distractions or excess (such as social media, entertainment, or gossip)
Our prayer is that these 21 days of consecration will draw us closer to God, strengthen our prayer lives, and align our hearts with His will.
