“We came to the land where you sent us, and indeed it flows with milk and honey...” (Numbers 13:27)

The spies saw the same Land, the same fruit, and the same opportunities. Their mistake wasn't what they saw—it was how they saw it. Instead of focusing on fulfilling Hashem's mission, they weighed the reward against the challenge.

A question to think about this week: When faced with a challenge, do we focus on the obstacles or on the opportunity to fulfill Hashem's will?

This week, I had the privilege of teaching a young man in our community how to put on Tefillin for the very first time.

As I stood beside him, I found myself thinking back to the neighbor who first taught me decades ago. At the time, I could never have imagined how that one lesson would accompany me through so many chapters of my life. Tefillin has been a constant thread woven through those experiences.

One conversation. One mitzvah. One person taking the time to teach another. That's often how Jewish life grows.
